Anyone old enough (and who grew up in the UK) will remember the likes of William Woollard and Angela Rippon doing precisely that on a very dull motoring show on the BBC called Top Gear that was eventually cancelled due to lack of viewer interest in 2001.

It was revived a year later in more or less current form to huge commercial success...which is why they do not test Ford Escorts etc anymore..!
