BTR: I miss the BAE 146 whisper jets, had my first flight to AKL on one of those as a kid back when Ansett existed. That was when they served meals on national flights as well because I remember having the lamb.


I don't.  God awful noisy things if you were sitting  behind the wings  and made worse by the fact that the  wings were on top of the cabin.  Always hated landing in Wellington and wondering if the breaks would work as they had no engine breaking.  Great service from Ansett NZ though..

The 146 had good short field performance due to slow approach speeds and very efficient carbon brakes. Apparently there was no need for reverse thrust.

Ouch! The saying about the whisperjet:

Has 4, needs 6, goes like it's on 1.

I remember being impressed by the flight deck when I paxed on one years ago.
