All cars should be made to turn on their lights all the time, regardless of their colour.

gzt: Can you please turn your lights on. Your vehicle is the same colour as the sky today. Also it is 6pm anyway. Thank you.

No, No, No. Motorcycles must have their lights on at all times so that they can be seen.... If cars also turn their lights on, the motorcycle disappears into the background, defeating the purpose of the new law.
Best example is when a bike travels in the right wheel track of the car behind (this helps avoid oil drips on road etc) and the car behind has headlights similar to the bike.
I once worked for a company who had a policy that you must use lights at all times driving company cars.... I refused to sign that clause.

Yes, yes, yes. Car visibility is poor in NZ, people refuse to put their headlights on in times of poor lighting, the only sensible solution to to force day light lighting, this should have been done at the same time as motorcycle daylight lighting law change. There are other options to use for motorcycles, if the government was serious about road safety they would look at implementing them.

As I said, I'm convinced the people who won't turn on lights think it costs them money.

That would be the same people that wind all their windows down instead of turning on AC.

In a lot of countries this is mandatory now to have day running lights. Lots of new vehicles in NZ are also fitted with them. My car is silver and I hate the color but it doesn't show the dirt..

DravidDavid: The tiny Noddy cars that do 25-35KM/h around a sign posted 60 corner, then take such a wide line they cross the center-line piss me off.
