jonb:

after 3pm to 1am at the council Civic carpark will be $21 ($9 + $12).

The $12 flat fee is normally really annoying when you arrive in town to have an evening meal, better to park on the street, but for your purposes it is good, as long as you are out by 1am..

are you sure? the flat fee applies if you enter the carpark after 6pm

either way its going to be $21 or $24

While it won't help the OP , owing to the late time of the finishing, but my wife and I use the Orakei Train station Park and Ride for parking in town.

We are lucky we don't mind a bit of walk to the top of Queen st, and surrounding areas from Britomart.

I think the train fare is about $1.30 each way, but still cheaper than parking. On weekdays, trains go past every 10 mins or so, bit less frequently on the weekends.

I work in town anyway, so normally I am already here, so wife parks car and meets me after work, have our meal / movie, whatever. So I only pay the $1.30 to get back to car, instead of $4.90 to home station.

Has anyone tried any of the parking apps around Auckland CBD?

Parkable?  Park Bubble?

It ain't going to be cheep. Your conference timing means you are ineligible for both eairlybird and night deals at most carparks.

  • You could park on the street: rates here... expect to pay $24 (from 3pm- 1am) (+50c if you don't have $24 in coins so use a credit card). Street parking is usually easy find in the mid afternoon (unlike in the evening).
  • Park in the civic carpark ($24) if it closes late enough (1am mon-thur, 3am fri)
  • Atrium Carpark ($34) Next door to the hotel. No closing time listed on website. (this is adjacent crown plaza hotel)

mentalinc: Corner of victoria St west and Elliot Street has an outdoor car park which may be suitable

Avoid this particular car-park. You will enter 1 hour too early for the $15 evening deal, so they will charge you the 12 hour rate ($60) Link

Where are you coming from? If it's the inner suburbs, taking the bus / train into town, then an Uber or (prebooked) cheapcab/discount taxi home could be a cost effective and desirable option. I imagine if you are at a conference that runs till 1am, that there will be some chilled beverages consumed...

https://auckland.crowneplaza.com/experience-auckland/beforeyourstay/  Look at the Parking section.

I would just park here to save the hassle/troubles of walking in the early hours in an unfamiliar city.  Hopefully the conference will have access to the discount vouchers (ask the organiser by email or on the first day).
