Hang a "Free to a good home" sign on the side of it.

Never works.

Put a fridge out once saying "working, free" - noone touched it. Changed sign to say "Working $50", the fridge vanished in 10mins.*

* No I didnt actually but was something I read :)

See my link - AT won't regard it as abandoned until they have written to the owner. Can't find the owners address if there's no number plate

Gosh, why on earth does anyone pay for storage in Auckland?

1. Buy a secure trailer

2. Put all your stuff in it

3. Park it pretty much anywhere

4. Remove licence plates....

5. Free storage, PROFIT! :)

Check out the link (to applicable legislation) on the AT page. There is process the council can follow. Sounds like they just don't want to.

One complication with a trailer is whether the load (e.g. a boat) is part of the vehicle?

It's a quite fancy boat TBH (parked on Victoria Ave in Remuera)

I think the owner found a loophole to use the sidewalk as free storage space.

Hypothetically ... if your boat was financed and you were behind on payments, storing it plate-less on a street away from where you live would be a good repossesion avoidance tactic.

^^ That would assume the boat has no VIN. Which most do. And generally the security is over the most expensive part (Hull or Motor). Rather than the trailer.
And if the VIN is on the inside then just climb aboard.

This is basically my job! And I can assure you if I see one nearby that matches the description I'll look very closely at it.
