It would have been an average "top gear" episode, but that still puts it leagues ahead of the Le Blanc-Evans schmozzle that tried and failed to create an "odd couple" relationship....

Top gear works because of the low level chemistry and ribbing between the hosts,

The " in tent" portions of the new show felt a bit forced, but I suspect that it a function of having a "foreign" audience and not knowing exactly where the safe limits are.....

There is only so many times they can thrash around in Supercars, so they will need to get off on a road trip or dopey british "challenge" of some sort in the next two weeks, - although I am not sure how heavily the BBC have "copyrighted" those segments......

Watched it on Saturday nite.  Great program.  I think my Amazon Prime sub just paid for it's self..

Loved the car bits, hated the tent stuff. It was just far too scripted for my liking and that's not them.

I suspect it will flow a LOT more naturally in a few weeks time, when things have settled. Even Top Gear (2) got better with time.

Agreed on that point. I noticed the audience interactions with the booing and table on it side with the presenters hiding was a bit scripted and cheesy. At the same time they were explaining a lot of things and how the show worked so it would have felt scripted to a certain level.
