Wheelbarrow01:

I have owned 3 white Holden Astras:

The first one was written off shortly after purchase in 2007, in the Newcastle (NSW) floods.

The second one was written off shortly after purchase when it was T boned in 2011.

I tried going for the hat-trick, but I managed to own the 3rd one for a good 6 months without writing it off.

When I was a kid, my mum owned an old 60's Kingswood wagon with bench seat/column shift. It was the good old days when people still left the keys in the ignition most of the time. When I was about 5 years old I climbed in and started her up. Unfortunately it was in gear so I drove it into the side of the house. I wasn't very popular.

It must be said I don't have much joy with Holdens to be honest.... Although to be fair at around about the same age I filled the fuel tank of my dad's Mk II Jag with water. I thought I was helping lol.

Haha, reminds me. Whilst not a Holden, the parents had a XY Falcon wagon in about 1977-78 (ish). Me and a friend (both about 6 or 7 at the time) were waiting in the car while a parent was in the shop. Car parked on a hill, facing down to the shop door. Little friend let the handbrake off, car was in neutral. Made a new entrance into the shop through the plate glass window. I still live near the shop - it has had concrete (now rubber) curbing installed outside ever since.

1993 VP HSV5000i Senator

Sold it in 2002 just before my son was born. Nearly bought it back again in 2013/2014 when I saw it on trademe but just couldn't afford it. Still my favourite car of all time. Exhaust rumble that tripped car alarms in a parking garage was always good for the lols.

2001 Vectra 2.2 - Dead boring but functional enough

2003 Holden Lumina - Decent enough but quickly ran out of torques

Awesome HSV! You don't see many of those (HSV VP 5000i Senator around anymore)

Well my Dad had the best Holden on the planet,

When he was 20 something surfing the gold coast with my Mum (both surfed) you would find him in one of these

Nice Panel Van!. Guarantee though that if you drove one of them onto a beach like that, you'd be needing a tractor or 4WD to tow you off. Might be alright on that wet stuff there, but the soft dry sand will bog it in a second. Wonder how many people copied the ad and drove down to the surf?

i grew up in family that owned lot of cars.  We had a VN and VR commodores.  Utter rubbish, except for the very comfy seats in the VR Calais.  Also had a 1993 HSV Club Sport at one stage.  Great car in a straight line, plenty of raw power but not so great on corners and very uncomfortable.

Just 1, a 2012 Cruze SRi-V, with the 1.4 iTi motor

Looked at a VE Series 2 Calais V around the same time, but as the car would be the only car, I couldn't justify to myself the around town running costs.

Knowing my Dad as well as i do i can assure you it would have been on the beach many times. Stuck, Maybe but he probably got good at it in the end! All i know is that it suffered a death from Rust haha.

The quintessential Golden Holden, this was the colour of golden my HQ. On reflection it was a horrible colour, what was I thinking, in the 70's in my youth

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Have a love/hate relationship with my VX S which I've had for 10+years and taken from 130K to 330K.

The hate relates to the repair bills over the years

If i were to go and buy a Holden of that period it would most definitely be a Golden Brown haha. Same reason i had a Yellow Audi S4, Quintessential part of the brand.

Although white is supposed to be a safe colour, I know more people that have had crashes in white cars, than any other colours combined. I am wondering if it isn't such a safe colour to be in.

Grew up watching Brock rule the mountain and always wanted a Holden.
"Our next car will be a Holden" I would always say. After seven different jap cars we finally got our first Holden three weeks ago, 2010 SV6 Sportwagon.

Love it!

Either buy the last of the current Commodores or wait until the euro sourced replacements arrive. Don't get a Daewoo.
