Aren't these sounds now synthesised or reinforced by electronic or mechanical sound systems? Eg Soundaktor so with speakers one could simulate any desired effect.

 

 

 

 

Does it matter either way? Either you like the sound, or you don't :)

Having grown up with "noisy" cars, the last thing I would want now on a modern quiet car is a speaker that tries to simulate that noise.

 

Twin 40DCOE's sucking great gulps of fresh air sounded good when I was twenty, but nowadays I like peaceful motoring.
