Hi all, good to see y'all chatting about Fastlane! We're now live in Greenlane, soon to be other sites around NZ. If you are around, try it out and give us feedback.

Receiving questions and comments from customers like yourselves is exactly why we are running a trial—so that we can listen & learn what’s important for us to look at improving or adding next to Fastlane.

—Cody from the Z Energy Fastlane team.

Worthless without discounts. Also with how frequently the Z on onewa road has been out of fuel recently probably will not work anyway.

It is somewhat perplexing how handing your CC details over via API to 3rd party to process can't be combined with your equally saved card details that are in the app already...

Unless you're a FlyBuys collector there is no reason in the world to shop at Z. I don't know why anybody would purposely choose to pay Z's inflated 6c per litre margin just for the convenience of being part of a trial.

Because they are not as much a rip off as caltex and they are the only place for ages that sells 95.

In Christchurch the only thing different in price of petrol stations is amount of discount can get.

Without discounts on Fast Lane this makes Z the most expensive in Christchurch if using that method.

One that I drive past haven't seen anyone use it, but seen someone back out of it when realised what it was, they've just lost two lanes of fuel pumps during busy times.

I go for the pies for one :)

And I don't know about elsewhere in the country, that may be a considered a premium product pricing. But it's exactly the same as the bloke next door/down the road here unless your name is NPD.

So unless I sign up for a card of some sort, or go out of my way to a supermarket to get a voucher. None of the others give me discounts either to sway away from it. At least there is the chance to double-dip the few airpoints one does get. Got my 2nd end of year 10c off sitting in the app to use now it seems.

And even though it comes from the same refinery, my car seems to hate changing to mobil on the odd chance I do have a voucher floating around. It pinks like crazy.

You can double dip Airpoints but with no fuel discounts for Airpoints it still represents terrible value for money. Even a 3x Airpoints promos at Z doesn't even give you the equivalent of a 6cpl discount let alone the fact Fly Buys customers earn Fly Buys points on top and get a 6cpl discount.

Maybe some people don’t have an economical choice when the alternatives are too far away?

In which case you'd get a FlyBuys card just to save 6c - but this comment was more about the Fastlane trial which won't give you a discount regardless.

Some interesting issues arising from the FB brigade.

Bad guy: Sit at corner, note rego of cars using. Print plate using font online.. exploit.

And lots of people saying there's 2 lanes down with an attendant. But when the other lanes are all occupied they are still kept clear for app only users.

So unless trial is successful and is rolled as an option on all lanes. It's a little fruitless than a gimic.

I used to use the BP app but could not use coupons from super markets etc and they always threw a $200 hold on your account that would not disrepair for a few days, was not worth the hassle in the end really.

I seem to recall BP only do a $200 hold if you pick the fill option. If you just fill up by e.g. $40 (min for the discounts etc) then they just hold that amount. Is this definitely not the case?

It is, someone asked the same on their FB and got above suggestion (fixed vs unknown)

And some banks do overnight requests so reversal isn't instant.
