It is awesome looking but, it comes from the VW/Audi stable so what they say it will do it will never do and if it breaks good luck with that.

That has not been my experience with Audi, and We've owned a few.

I have owned two from that stable and both ended badly.

VW or Audi? I wouldn't buy a VW without serious consideration, but I always found Audi and BMW pretty ok.

Audi\VW\Skoda all share a lot of the same platforms\engines

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Volkswagen_Group_platforms

And it looks like Audi and Porsche are platform sharing\developing the PPE platform for the larger models.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Group_MEB_platform

The Audi e-Tron GT Concept uses this PPE platform, as does the e-Tron

https://www.netcarshow.com/audi/2018-e-tron_gt_concept/

https://www.netcarshow.com/audi/2020-e-tron/

And the whole Audi e-Tron idea has been around in various concepts and racecars since 2009

If you've owned an Audi diesel, it's been your experience. What they said it did emission-wise, it didn't.

Well, it's an Audi :) It's what I'd expect.

This is what I want my EV to look like :)

I don't know what manufacturers' fascination is with weird box like "trucks" (there's another thread on this on GZ), or SUV/crossover things (I'm looking at your Tesla X).  Where are the Hot Hatches/Mid Sized Saloon/Cabriolets/Wagons?

The one pictured above is a ABT Sportsline Audi RS6-R, possibly with around 700hp, up abut 25% on standard. For when you want to scare the family, and the dog.

I've only owned one Diesel and it wasn't an Audi, but emissions don't tend to be a primary factor in which car to buy for me. It's *a* factor, but it needs to be fit for my purpose first.

What VW Group did was really bad, and they should be punished for it. I don't believe that is reason to write them off forever.

I saw this a few weeks back in Queensgate. What an awesome thing. The car heart looks like a power plant from Starwars.

I believe those things had a complicated set of motors to operate the (leaky) roof. That alone would cut the limited range in half. Looks aren't everything.

My current is an Audi Diesel....emissions play a bit on my conscience, but not enough to replace it with a, a butt ugly leaf (sorry leaf owners, I don't like the look of them, unless someone makes an aftermarket kit to get rid of those weird bug eyes), or b, buy an ev for double if not triple the cost of the ICE version (looking at you Kona).

So when I replace it, I expect to replace it with an EV, so there better be some better looking ones, with a bit of get up and go in the market, cos the choices are pretty limited at the momnet (IMO)

We have owned a VW Golf and a Skodia Fabia both had issues and at 6 months old the Fabia needed the junk Dual clutch transmission replaced. The car had circa 5,000 km on the odometer. We demended a refund and after our lawyer got involved they paid out.

The Golf was troublesome and had a string of minor faults and was always needing to be in the service centre. We surrendered when it reached circa 20,000kms and sold it.

For the right amount of money (thinking container loads) you can modify most things :)

I read an article about that Fairlane conversion. It has pretty limited range even if you don't operate the roof, around 120 km though they say it does quick charge in two hours.

I often think it would great to have such cars as the XY Falcon, HK Holden Monaro, Ford Capri, Triumph Stag etc as EVs with modern equipment. I believe they would sell.
