Lucky bugger! I've started dropping hints to my wife about these, with part of the justification being my older son could take over my Mi to use that to get to school.

Is the 10 speed-limited by the importer like the 10X, and if so can that be be over-ridden with a different firmware? (Though I'm thinking 46kmh is probably fast enough!)

How's the suspension? And how are the brakes? (kinda critical given the speed its capable of.)

I saw in the M365 thread that Xiaomi are releasing a 'Pro' version of that scooter, seemingly with more range and faster top speed - my issue is that it doesn't seem any different in build, and while it's a great scooter for the money it's certainly not a robust device that will last for many moons (mine is already making some pretty ugly creaking, the source of which I can't find, and that's only after daily use for about seven weeks). That build quality (and decent suspension) is what would draw me towards a scooter like the 10, not just that faster speed. What did you end up paying for this?

My justification was partly supported by being able to sell my M365 and also the fact that the manufacturers recommended maximum weight is higher. My wife still has her M365 but she is lighter and does not use hers as much as I do.

Freedpev send a 2 page "Starter Guide" which details how to lower the power/speed output. I found last night that even on Level 1 (of 3) it outperforms the Xiaomi significantly.

The suspension is awesome. The ride seems more stable too. I noticed when looking behind I did not wobble like I do on the smaller scooters.

I paid $1799 but I noticed their price has gone up since. I would still thoroughly recommend this (or even the Zero 9) for anyone who wants to give their scooter plenty of use.

The power of my Zero 10 is so high that I am experimenting with lower settings. I want to find a balance between easy smooth takeoffs and scary fast takeoffs.

@robfish: Could you please provide an update on how you're finding the Zero 10, after a few weeks of ownership?

Based on advice from the retailers, I've decided the 10X will be overkill for me, and impossible to carry up the stairs at work.

I've found many comments and posts on the 10X but few on the 10 - did you find much on it online before you bought yours?

How is acceleration - both on the flat and on hills, and both from still and say accelerating when already doing around 25kmh? How do the brakes compare to the Middle, and do they work well even when going fast?

Are there any problems, even minor, that you've had, or features you don't like (or you think are missing)?

Are there any other brands and models you or anyone else would recommend as offering a similar performance at the same or lower price point (say below $2k), and also available in NZ?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'd ike to make sure, if I'm spending this amount of money, I've made the best purchase I can for the given budget!

(Trying to keep a long story short) when I was enquiring about the Zero 10 I asked if they had an agent in Christchurch where I could try one. They said not yet but they are hoping to soon. Well now I am that agent.

For me, the decision to go for the 10 was the right one because I am over 100 kgs and often carry a few tools with me.

The power acceleration and braking are great. I hardly ever use level 3 though as I just do not need it. Level 2 gets up to 42 kph with me on it and head winds don't matter.

If you are less than 100 kgs I would recommend the Zero 9. It still gets up to 40 kph with me on it and has the great suspension too.

Even level 1 leaves my wife in my dust (on her Xiaomi M365)

For longer rides the suspension makes a huge difference to ride comfort too. (The Zero 8, 9 and 10 all have suspension front and rear)

Beware of falling branches when riding any scooter in a park.

I was doing only 15 kph on gravel in Hagely Park when a stick fell out of the sky and I somehow came off.

It didn't hurt too much but the wound on my knee took 3 weeks to heal. Trousers were irreparable.

Thanks for the update. Good to know Chch now has an agent, but a pity there's no-one in the lower NI. It's a lot of money for me to spend without having first tried one, hence my attempt at due diligence!

I hadn't considered the 9, but do you find the acceleration better on the 10 compared to the 9? That is a big factor for me, given it's one of the bigger issues with the Mi. Also, do the larger wheels on the 10 make a difference to the ride/stability? I'd rather get the purchase right first time (well, second time - after the Mi!), ending up regretting not going for the 10.

Do either of them have the equivalent of the cruise control on the Mi? I really like this feature, as I find it difficult to otherwise maintain a constant speed, especially over bumpy surfaces. If the Zeros don't have this, how do you find sticking at the same speed? (The accelerator seems quite different, so this may mean it's not such an issue?)

Finally, how do you find the build of the Zeros vs the Mi? Are there any of the same issues with creaking and loosening of joints? And will the tyres etc be relatively easy to repair and replace?

Let me check if I can arrange a "hands-on" look.

The 10 definitely has more power and torque so you get what you pay for.

On the flat, the 10 could be overkill.

The larger tyres do tend to give more stability.

There is, according to a Youtube video, a Programme for turning cruise control on. I haven't used it because I think it could be dangerous at high speeds.

The throttle is different than the M365 one but is very easy to maintain a constant speed.

Build quality seems good too with no apparent creaks. Some people (probably heavy ones) have experienced clunking noises in the front suspension but I believe the new builds have stronger springs. I think tyre replacement would be easier with the larger sizes too.

Well, only last night I tried with the NZ Zero dealer the 'your prices have gone up recently; when is your next sale, or can you offer me it at a better price' line and got a resounding 'no'! His reply was along the lines of 'these things sell themselves', hence there's little incentive for them to offer them at better prices. (Unlike a Singapore dealer, which has the Zeros on special at the moment; I'm not suggesting I'd look at directly importing something like this, but simply as a comparison - CGA coverage is key for me.)

So I've had to suck it up and accept I'm paying only $50 short of $2k for a scooter! (I elected to go with the Zero 10 in the end, primarily due to the larger wheels, better brakes, an assumed better acceleration, and to avoid/reduce the chance of buyer's regret had I settled for the 9.)

No current stock, so it's a matter of putting down a $300 deposit for stock coming in in mid-late April.

I've ordered zero 10x, i've got a m365 which has no problems with my work commute i have to ride a bus(untill they build skypath atleast) so i will keep because its light and because of portability not being a concern i went with the 10x over the 10, mainly buying it for fun and to use my car less.

Crazy bugger! The 10X looks amazing, and would have been my preference (but impractical due to weight).

I ended up paying fully for my 10 upfront, as that was the only way of paying via credit card (prefer the cash back, and the protection). And, having sold my Mi already, I’m without a scooter until they arrive later this month.

Once your 10X arrives, post here to tell us how you find it.

Yeah, the 10X is now showing arrival as April 20, whereas a few days ago it wasn't even available to order; the 10 is still stating 'mid/end April' so unsure if this is part of the same delivery or not, but here's hoping for something as early as the 20th, noting they say for those of us outside of Akld delivery can take up to a week.

I'd be very interested to see which Zero model will pull me (also > 100kg) up the kind of hills we have around our place. I wonder if I can test ride one up College Hill or Victoria St as they are right by the shop.
