It is a shame about the number plate.
I have also found that number plates don't show up well under IR light.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

For really good plate recognition you want no IR or an IR cut filter, and preferably a B/W sensor. Mobotix are brilliant for this - they have dual lens cameras so you can have both a colour and B/W sensor with the same (or different) size lens.
Andib:
That's a 2000-2004 Subaru Outback. Similar to the one below
...
Its a better match to the Lancaster. Note the two tone wheel arches.
SirHumphreyAppleby:
Early this morning we had some property stolen from our neighbourhood, including a plant and bird bath. We have a partial plate number but I was hoping someone could tell us what make/model the vehicle was. The vehicle is quite distinctive with two-tone colouring. An image of the front and side are below.
subaru outback
SirHumphreyAppleby:xpd:Cripes, I can do it, so why cant they ? :)
Carjam.co.nz - write up nice script to start going through all the possible combinations.... sure, may take time etc, but would get there :D
Already got there :)
Geektastic: Seriously, someone went to all this trouble just to get a plant and a birdbath?!
I'm fairly certain they had other targets in mind as well. Ironically, there has been a quite nice looking solid wood headboard propped up against a fence around the corner with a 'free' sign attached and they didn't take that.
Bung: Sir Humphrey says this morning but the date stamp on the photos is 10 - 5 - 2020. I'd say that some miscreants' mother got a plant and birdbath for Mother's Day.
My servers and cameras are set to GMT. Being out by an hour if DST doesn't update due to incorrect rules, buggy firmware, changing DST laws or simply because I forget to change it, could be be sufficient for reasonable doubt. I therefore favour a fixed time reference.
Apparently there is a two-quote limit.
Bung: Looks like OP has already landed on Carjam entry for vehicle. Unless there are multiple Legacy, Outback & Lancaster in the range of missing numbers it's sorted.
Correct.
I'd take a cruise around the area looking for the car and items. That is not your typical trade-for-drugs loot. More likely coveted by someone and stolen to order (?). Have had similar incidents in our neighborhood, and found the vehicles at addresses in other parts of the suburb, but in my experience the cops are only interested in the glory jobs - assault, murder etc. For the NZ justice system, nipping crime in the bud is not encouraged as it servers only to put yourself out of a job.

I have been informed this morning that more plants were taken from a nearby property, so they definitely seem to be targeting certain types of items. I'm keeping an eye out on my daily walk.
I've found the local police to be quite good to deal with in relation to these matters. We're three from three for prosecutions where plates were known.

I got broken into, back in early 2000's, the person who did the crime (and I know exactly who it was, just cant prove it) cut themselves on the glass while gaining entry, and left fingerprints and blood all over the place. The police took fingerprints and blood samples, and despite the crook having previous convictions, police couldn't match anything they claim.
Just don't think they thought it was worth their time over a stolen Playstation.

weasel13: Quite likely it wasn’t who you think it was then
Or they had someone else with them that left the prints and blood....
