Early this morning we had some property stolen from our neighbourhood, including a plant and bird bath. We have a partial plate number but I was hoping someone could tell us what make/model the vehicle was. The vehicle is quite distinctive with two-tone colouring. An image of the front and side are below.

Possibly a Subaru outback?
If you have reported it to the police, they can do partial rego searches.

I'd say looking at the pictures, either a Subaru Outback as previously mentioned, or a Subaru Legacy.

EDIT: Could actually be a Subaru Legacy Lancaster, similar to this (link to Trade Me purely for reference)

I think we have a match. Based on the images I've been able to find, I would agree it's likely a Subaru Outback. Definitely a Subaru of some sort.

A police report is being filed by a neighbour. We just wanted to make sure we had as much relevant information as possible to narrow down the search.

Thanks for your help.

I think this might actually be it. I didn't find the Legacy in two-tone colouring with a quick Google search, but that does seem to be an almost perfect match.

We have a good neighbourhood watch system and cameras in several locations. We believe we have identified the vehicle involved. It's a 1999 Subaru Legacy.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.

That's a 2000-2004 Subaru Outback. Similar to the one below

A bit of research leads me to believe these are essentially the same vehicle, with the Outback or Lancaster names given to variations of the Legacy. The Outback name was also used with a variant of the Imprezza.

Based on the headlights it is a Rev A/B/C (pre facelift) BH5 Legacy Outback. This will mean its somewhere between 1998 and very early 2001

Last time I had a partial plate, the Police said they couldn't do anything (and that was with the first 4 characters.) Hopefully you have more luck.

Camera quality was pretty good!

Funny because I would have said the opposite, pretty much the same vehicle with different ground clearance and a few different options for upgrades, otherwise meh.

Cripes, I can do it, so why cant they ? :)

Carjam.co.nz - write up nice script to start going through all the possible combinations.... sure, may take time etc, but would get there :D

Feel free to message me file number, or partial rego. I’ll be able to get rego if you’ve got first four characters.
