There's a huge advantage if you get it from your car dealer as the protection is guaranteed for the lifetime of the car.

Meaning that in 3-5 years time, when the ceramic protection wears out, and it will definitely wear out - simply take it back to the dealer and they'll re-do it for free.

That's what the Mazda dealer told me anyway. I still didn't get it as I'm not planning to hold on to my current car for 5+ years.

Even if/when the car changes hands?

I'll get it.

I didn't realise if it wears off you can have it reapplied. Only for the person who paid for it, don't apply with new owner.

How long do you intend to keep the car for?

What are you getting if you don't mind me asking :D

That's the only question really. If you don't want to keep the car don't get it, if you want to keep it for a while, maybe get it.

Sorry can't say but they gave me 30% off the car price I couldn't resist.

I'm getting a car in a couple of weeks from a dealer and they are offering dura seal for $500ish.

Going to take offer up, first new car and plan to keep it for 10+ years so anything to help protect it longer.

I ordered a Rav4 recently and the Toyota dealer sent through the options below. Thinking I will just get the Duraseal paint protection.

Duraseal Paint and Leather Protection @ $1195 or just the paint @$695

Stone chip protection.

  • Full front bumper and 320mm bonnet protector $999
  • Above plus Door cups, headlights, door edges and wing mirrors $1399

If you drove your new car from the dealer to a reputable specialist detailer you would get a significantly better product applied professionally for similar money.
