Anyone know how much Mazda charge for ORC. It seems to differ by quite a margin between the different car manufacturers.

I got the answer to my own question. I messaged Christchurch Mazda, and they got back to me with this:-

"On road costs are $950. This includes 12 months registration, tank of fuel, carpet mats, pre delivery service and wof and a full groom."

That seems about right, but then again I got the carpet, registration, pre delivery and full tank of fuel thrown in as part of my negotiation.

Are you able to negotiate deal at all?

I know that times have changed since I got my car but I did manage to get about 12% off the price.

My mate wasn't able to negotiate anything when he bought recently.

2K for all that is a bargain. I'd definitely go for it.

Go for the Limited - the headlights will also be a big improvement on what GLX has

I have an older GLX 2 and first thing I did buy new bulbs for the headlight - but they are still well behind what Limited has

I'm looking at upgrading my 2017 Mazda 2 GSX to a 2022 Model. For an extra $2000 I can get the Limited Edition.

What I get for my money is:-

Mazda Radar Cruise Control

Active Driving Display

Leather Seat Trim

Auto Dimming Interior Rearview Mirror

Digital Speedometer With Analogue Tachometer

Adaptive LED Headlamps

Smart Brake Support

Traffic Sign Recognition

Smart City Brake Support

Driver Attention Alert

Are these just gimmicks? or is it worth the extra $2000? Should I Stay With The GSX Model

My wife has the 2019 Mazda 2 LTD.  The only thing on your list that she doesn't have is Mazda Radar Cruise Control.  She just has normal cruise control.  The headsup display (Active Driving Display)  is worth the extra money.

It's a sellers market. When there are long waiting lists then there's no incentive for discounting.

I did negotiate about 6% off when I bought my 2017 Mazda 2, plus they didn’t charge me extra for the Soul Red finish. also got a couple of things thrown in.

I have stressed to the dealer that he will have to make his absolute best offer on my trade in, as haggling is a PITA.

I have a bottom line in mind, so I may end up keeping the car I have for a few more years. It only has 17000 Kms on the clock. Gonna go in today.

Just back from the Mazda dealer. They made me a great offer for my car. Way higher than my bottom line. So it’s a 2022 build Mazda 2 Limited for me (and wifey). Happy days 😁

Thanks to everyone on this thread for your invaluable advice and comments. Cheers

Got the new car locked in. Snowflake White Pearl Mica is the colour that we decided on. Looks really swish.

Now we have a 3 to 4 week wait 🙁

Congratulations! I am quite a big Mazda fan, so you have made a great choice.

A four week wait is pretty good considering the current supply chain problems. My mother waited eight months for her new Yaris!

I actually looked at getting a Yaris earlier this week. I wanted the Hybrid model, and they told me that there is a 16 month wait at least. I think that I made  the right decision with the Mazda 2 though.

Commenting on the features I'm familiar with: -

  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control - yes, very convenient, especially for motorway driving or congested highway driving
  • Leather Seat Trim - personal pref, but always worth having IMO
  • Auto Dimming Interior Rearview Mirror - handy feature
  • Digital Speedometer With Analogue Tachometer - easy to read.  The HUD is even better f that's an option
  • Traffic Sign Recognition - great for speed zone awareness, because system speed zone info isn't always accurate.

Smart braking systems, other than stability control type systems, are not get IME.  My (admittedly limited) experience of automatic braking systems, is that they misinterpret some reasonably common situations.  For example interpreting steep bridges as objects and braking; or braking when sensing an oncoming vehicle in the oncoming a tight corner.
