afe66: The days of free fast charging by power companies should stop too as prevents others from entering market.

I’ve pretty much given up even going to free fast chargers. With the increase in EV numbers, they may be ‘free’ but they are (almost) never ‘available’.

These type of chargers are an opportunity top up.

If you go later in the evening after 8pm i've found they are generally available - the ones at Kumeu New World anyway.

We use it if it happens to be free when we were going there anyway and we are down on charge to sub 50%, which is probably part of the problem as we don't NEED the charge but are using it opportunistically to save a few dollars. I would never plan a journey around a free fast charger as it's rare we actually get to use it. We do only use it while in the shops it is attached to though and are usually out of there after 15-20 minutes at most. There is also 4 paid fast chargers between the one at the other supermarket and Z garage nearby so I don't feel that guilty for using a 25kw charger for 15 minutes as anyone needing a full charge will either pay for the faster charger or hog the free one for hours on end and clearly not be inside the warehouse for all that time.

Tried it the other day on the way back from work.

A little caveat, you'll need to "subscribe" to get the free 7 kwh!
Granted it's a matter of going into the menu to select the free subscription but it was not made very clear at all, and why was it not selected by default in the first place?

Had to go through their support and get the refund; to their credit it was responded and sorted very quickly.
