Definitely walk away, unless it's a vintage classic?? For $16k you can get a lot of good cars...
Just as an example of dodgy dealing, a friend of a friend mine bought a cheap car on fb, later crashed it and tried to trade it in only to find the previous owner had security on it, so the car dealer wouldn't touch it and they are left with a car damaged they can't do anything with except scrap it for maybe $400...

Best to always buy from a trusted dealer ....




Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

Not necessarily, a lot of what we have bought vehicle wise has been private.  With the odd finance situation as described here.  But in cases where finance is not settled first, just walk.

 

Most times the better deal has been private, avoids the dealer margin
