its 250 litres , -SNAP

https://www.nzta.govt.nz/assets/resources/factsheets/69/docs/69-dangerous-goods.pdf

also if you put them out in a line by the cat I can't see why you would need to keep re inserting your card

Fill one, halt the pump screw on lid,  move on the next one....

Could’ve been 20 litre containers, I’m only guessing amount. Absolute minimum though 100 litres.

Also there is a transaction limit on credit cards of $125 which may be why having to go back to payment terminal.

If allowed 250 litres recreational use then they were probably not doing anything wrong.

Person in front of me thought they were filling them up with Diesel.

Person behind me just shook head when I asked if they could back up, cars were pretty close to him behind, and only about three steps between my car and his.

I can fill up with no cap on limit so might be a setting one can change with your bank?

I too get angry when I see people who are less well off than myself trying to do anything they can to help themselves survive in a tough economy.

I assume you already checked their car tyres to see if they were below minimum tread depth and verified their warrant was current?

If that doesn't work you can take "pretending to be the police" one step further and ask to see their spare tire, that'll often get 'em.

Buying 250liters of fuel is not someone that is struggling at the moment, sorry. The single moms filling up $20 at a time are the ones struggling.

Its like someone paying with coins for their $500 shop - its allowed but it's inconsiderate.

Sorry, sorry, I'd picked the wrong "set of circumstances we don't know" to judge them.

My bad.

I doubt its that low,

A fairly regular 50 litre tank fill @ anything above $2.50 would trigger it

With the fuelling limit, it came up on screen one time a $125 will be put on hold for credit card so that is what I was going off. That was a while ago when fuel was cheaper so it could have changed. Maybe they went back again to put card in again for receipt. Though I tried that one time and nothing printed out.

The Z and BP applications on phone let you select the reserve.

In reply to someone else’s post the price was good compared to other nearby stations, they were all around 20 cents higher for 91, and that’s after taking 10 cents off for Wednesday pump days etc.

i think some self service stations have tighter limits.

we had a case locally where someone used it and left the hose on the ground running, pumping hundreds of liters down the road (stolen card i think).

Good price for 91 at service station around $2.57 for 91.

I have commercial on-account fuel cards with everyone and $2.57, while "cheap", is not much of a saving.

$2.57 for 91 is everyday price in Christchurch.

I used to get some dirty looks when filling the spare tanks for our boat. All very legal.

Seen this a couple of times at the local NW...yup, usually a crowd would gather...

I attempted to fill up twice recently at the Waitomo in Palmerston North. Each time (using a CC) it shut off on reaching $150.

I have never heard of a $125 limit on card transactions. I know that "fill" is limited in how much it will authorise but I have punched in absurdly high numbers on fuel pumps in the past when doing pay at pump.

I've not done that at coscto since I have barly been there in ICE cars, but at waitomo in the ute it was waaaay over $125 each time I filled it.

rugrat: Good price for 91 at service station around $2.57 for 91. Car in front of me was filling empty containers, guessing 10 litres each. So would’ve had any where from 100 to 200 litres in their boot when finished.

Depends where they live I guess and how much petrol they use. For comparison what is the price at your local paknsave or second best grocery with voucher?

If look at picture I posted in a post above, PacknSave  Moorhouse was around $2.83. Would need a voucher of approx 26 cents to match.

Most shopping vouchers I’ve seen from there are 6 cents and don’t think can use more then one at a time.

PAK’nSAVE petrol price no where near competitive.
