My sister has a MG (not exact same model / year), her microphone is up the top as part of the reading light for the front passengers.

Have you tried checking up there (see if there are some holes) - if so that's the likely place. If you're feeling brave, you could try pulling the casing down to visibly see it behind the panel.

The microphone inside the reading light in my car (Suzuki) can be fitted left or right side depending on steering wheel location. Maybe try using phone from the other front seat just in case the MG is similar and the mic was left on wrong side.

I find these videos quite good... this dude is very detailed.

GOTO about 12 minutes... covers off the volume options and mic volume etc

Id suggest you completly delete the pairing from both vehicle and phone, do a couple reboots on both devices and start again.

also found this in a "manual"

Phone Voice Volume Setting Short press [MENU] button on the Bluetooth volume setting interface to enter into the volume control interface; rotate the [MENU] button to adjust the volume and short press the [MENU] button again to store settings and then return to the previous menu. Note: This setting can only adjust the volume in the Bluetooth hands-free call, and makes no impact on other playback modes.

@Goosey ... thanks, and we have watched all of Jerry Pan's videos ... as you say they are excellent.  I've even corresponded with him.

Will take another look though.

Potentially, the car groomers might have blocked the pinhole and/OR the pairing didnt go well.

i.e. the android pop ups asking for permissions might have been too quick or not at all whilst pairing.

Remember, android auto pairing is different to standard bluetooth pairing.

I found that I have to pair the apple car play first and that does the lot... (late model Kia). (as opposed to standard bluetooth pairing first)

OK, have found the microphone (I think).  There is a small hole in middle of the interior light fitting, and when light is on one can see a little 'bar' and what looks like a wire off it.

I've also increased a couple of the sound levels so will test that when on the move later today <s>.

Thanks all for your input.

This new car has more settings variables available than my laptop 😁
