That’s dumb. The timer should cut in when the voltage drops below the engine running and charging voltage typically about 13.7V?

Otherwise might be easier to get the accessory power which is always available at the obd port.

Senecio:

Interior lights usually have 3 settings.

  • Permanently off
  • Permanently on
  • Switched with car door opening

Just need to remember to open the driver's door moments before a crash!

actually there's a good point in that. interior lights are controlled by the BCM. have things like delayed shutoff, switch on when you unlock or stop the engine. you would have to check there is an uncontrolled power feed in there.

Mine arrived today. As expected it was installed and talking to my phone in under half an hour. Swapped out the supplied 64GB card for a 256GB card - no issues.

Only one gotcha. I use a USB dongle for my Android auto and it quickly became apparent that my wireless AA and the FitCAMX phone app do not play nicely together. Not a biggy. I can still use my AA dongle, the camera still records. It's only in the occasional situation where I need to connect to the camera with my phone that I need to pull out the dongle. On startup, AA seems to always be the one that grabs the wireless connection - the camera doesn't connect until you ask it to.

Automatic cruise control still works fine.

That wasn’t the issue. The issue is you’re tapping power from systems used for driver safety systems which could be dangerous. If anything happens, there is a chance insurance companies will blame the camera you’ve installed tapping power from driving assistance features that could have prevented the accident.

Very very low chance but doesn’t take long to run dedicated power.

There's a vanishingly small chance that there will be an issue. They sell this into the US market and have for years. They'd have been sued out of existence if this was a real issue. Glad the install was so simple. Mine too was very simple and quick... Interestingly I also have a wireless AA box and have the same behaviour. I need to manually select the webcam if i want to configure or grab files off it from my phone.

Cheers - N
