Most modern SUVs and Dual Cab utes will have front facing cameras that give you a view of what might be lurking below the bonnet line out of site of the driver.

Roads are for cars, footpaths are for pedestrians.  If everyone just stayed in their lane there won't be any issues, problem solved.    





Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Our station wagons are fine for us -

 

 

 

not looking forwards to replacing though, probably be stuck with some kind of jumped up Suzuki Swift in a few years.

Hrmm. Lots of 'islands' here that the pedestrians can't escape if they only stayed on footpaths. There also goes the idea of public transport like trams & the underground.
