     >Has any one dealt with the MG service team yet - what are they like?<

In the 18 months we have had our MG, I can say that the Wellington team (Gazley) are a slick operation ... typical of a major dealership.  No problem too small, answer emails pretty quickly, prepared to listen etc etc.

In terms of some of the esoteric functions of the 'bells-and-whistles' I went direct to the MG Center in Australia, and again got very prompt and full answers & information.

I notice that the MG website offering free 3 year service plan on their MG4 models - that cuts the cost of ownership even more.

mdav056: I have never charged at a charging station.

A wee tip here. If you're anything like me and drive a whole lot then Genesis can actually save you a tonne of money.

I get Chargenet charging at the home rate and often use it when I am away from home or even when my wife is using the single charger we have.

Do you recall what your domestic unit rate is?

Same plan as michaelmurfy with Genesis but rates will vary around the country.
We are currently paying $0.4050 day and $0.2025 night (9pm-7am) so that's what we pay at ChargeNet chargers as well.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

We have an MG4 - just clicked over 103000kms.

Also on Genesis. I did a heap of research when Flick got absorbed and Genesis (for our area - Waikato) was the best deal for our use case.

I travel two or three times a week to Auckland from the Waikato (about 300km in the day) so I charge starting at 9pm at a rate of about 20c/kWh off-peak.

I find the Genesis plan super handy. I don't often connect to a fast charger, but when I need to it's nice to know I'm getting it at the same rate as I would at home. I have (once or twice) forgotten to plug the car in at night and woken up in the morning needing to do a 130km drive with <100km range left. A stop at the Bombay hyperchargers for 20 minutes fixes that (and I always leave home at ~5am so by the time I'm at Bombay I'm still in Off-Peak time).

We get night rates with Octopus of around 15.8c per kWh from 11pm to 7am. I'm wondering if we need to purchase a proper EV charger, or if we can get by using the slow charger instead. I heard that a slow charger can do around 10km per hour, so that might be all we need to top up the range during the week. I think we'll try this first and then decide later if we want to install a wallbox.

The granny charger that comes with it will be fine if you're not doing big trips every day.

Yep - about 10km per hour is what you'll get from it.
