Nokia2012: Yes But if you do it online it updates it in the system normally overnight so if a police officer Goes 3T with you (Pulls you over) and does a QVR (Query VOI and vehicle registration) over the radio coms will says it's currently licensed so that means your legal No fines for you.

Except for the fact you are now displaying an incorrect licence label, which is different offence. Both $200 though.

Good point how ever I would highly doubt he would give you a ticket for that. Normally they will be reasonable if he can see your doing the right thing. And if you display an assertive attitude towards the police officer and the law.

It is not actually the police you have to worry about, as they will be reasonable about it, if you can prove you have done it online and paid for it. It is the parking wardens, who if they see your car is unlicensed may give you a ticket,.

I've been in the police for 10 years.

My personal response: relax, don't worry about it, either do as others have suggested or sort it out on Wednesday. It's the holiday period, it's acknowledged that places aren't open to be able to do this.

My official response:

An infringement notice for a licence label that has been expired for less than a month should not be issued (council parking wardens can and do issue them however).

An infringement notice for a WOF that has been expired for less than a month can be issued, and compliance can be offered. A WOF expired by more than a month cannot be offered compliance.

I have left the printout from the site on the dash and avoided a council ticket in the past, just got the one for being slightly over the time. No idea if they checked it on their little ticketprinting thing or were being somewhat reasonable.

Since parking wardens are paid per ticket on commission, if they issue a known ticket that will be contested it's no point for them.

Is this based on fact?

I've seen the "parking warden leaderboard" a few years ago which lists names & # and $ of tickets issued.... so there certainly is competition between them.... No one would ever admit if that turns into an increase in their take home pay.

And my personal favourite is the opinion PR from a WCC...

Lots of interesting comments there.

Even if it does lead to an increase in pay, what does that matter to you?
They can only give a ticket for a breach of the parking / vehicles rules, so not really their fault. (unless they make actual errors, which they do)
