The geekiness is not about the actual usage (partial points for this). The geekiness is in the method for assessing, managing, storing and displaying the information...

Not really, it'll tell you when it's economically viable to get a tune-up.  I wish I'd kept all of my fuel data from over the years.

IlDuce: 2012 Suzuki GN125H - around town = 2.1L/100km. I win?

Of the 12 cars I have owned,
best consumption was 1986 Mitsubishi Cordia 1.8L 4 cyl manual = 6.7L/100km (open road), and
worst consumption was 1985 Nissan Laurel 2.4L 6 cyl manual = 12.5L/100km (open road).

Impressive. I managed just on 3.0L/100Km out of my 1986 Honda GB400. (430Km out of a single tank, I wasn't brave enough to go further).

1996 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.6 - Roughly 9L/100Km.

2008 Triumph Street Triple - Roughly 9L/100Km - Most uneconomical bike, ever!

~43 litters for full tank gives me anything from 450 to 550 km on my 2006 subaru impreza 1.5 auto :) depending on how much driving I do around city.

Usually I fill up tank fortnightly.

xpd:

LOL... Ive got the 04 model - they are a little sluggish but Ive learnt how get the best out of it - matter of timing with the revs and your right foot ;)

Ngauranga gorge is the worst part! :)

Have to keep the foot planted, otherwise it just changes up a gear, once you hit the 80k limit!

I'll take that, and match you one 2012 Suzuki GN125H, with the same rating :)
Did you get yours on the Suzuki fest sale?  Can't believe it, $1895 + ORC

Got mine late Jan, and even though it's not as powerful as my other bike, it's still a lot of fun.  Except when people don't see to see me, and reverse into my path

NonprayingMantis: I pay for fuel by the litre which I think is totally unfair. Fuel should be unlimited for a set fee (say, $30 per month).
Having to pay per litre limits my freedom to use my car the way it was intended.

Chuckle... OK, got a smile out of me :-)

I was joking, merely pointing out my OCD related to measuring this over time...

I was really hoping that someone would complain about my use of a 3 period moving average (as good as any for the dataset), wonder why I hadn't labelled the axes (forgot), and provided some detail about the variance around the mean (largely due to highway vs town driving).

This leads me to the comment that surely, there has to be a real benefit in coming up with a gadget that can be plugged into a regular car, that automatically stops the car at an intersection and starts it again, maybe user controlled with a timer countdown realted to the payoff of saving fuel (obviously turning off and on straight away costs more fuel)... ie. if 20 seconds turned off is net beneficial, start the timer (I guess it would depend on the car).

In addition my yamaha jog consumes approximately 3.88 L per 100km.

Vinnieg - I'd use quote but sometimes the ads to the right overlap what people are saying and the buttons so I can't quote..

"Did you get yours on the Suzuki fest sale? Can't believe it, $1895 + ORC "

Yes I did. The local bike shop only had 2, and somebody expressed their interest in buying both, so I had to show up with the cash that day to secure one... the other sold the next day or so.

My one is black, I wanted blue but Suzuki sold out before mid January so just dealer stock left. I was quite impressed though that the black has a blue glitter in it, it looks nice.

"Got mine late Jan, and even though it's not as powerful as my other bike, it's still a lot of fun. Except when people don't see to see me, and reverse into my path "

I got mine 1 month 5 days ago, now has 1150km on the clock and going in for its second service tomorrow. Before this I had 3 new scooters, so its a step up in power... I just wish there was more available new in the 250cc range.

My current car, a 1995 Civic 1.5L twin carb auto, gets 10L/100km around town, 7.7L/100km open road.
