Geektastic:muppet:Cost me $150 to fill up my car the other day. One Hundred and FIFTY. I nearly pooed out a brick.
No idea what the price on the pump was though.

Time to get an EV, even a hybrid could reduce fuel bills a lot in some cases.
It amuses me how this gets trotted out as the "answer". Like everyone just has $10k or whatever just sitting around to "get an EV".
I mean, in theory, the savings over time could cover the cost, but unfortunately they prefer that you buy the car first, then make the savings.

The EV / hybrid situation has to change though. It's simply unsustainable to have vehicles not contributing to their share of being on roads.
Sure an EV will still be cheaper, but not as cheap as it is today when a per km RUC is added on.

Roughly about half. 30c is the per litre equivalent cost of charging at home, add 70c, and you get $1 per litre equivalent
A mate traded his old Mazda 6 on an old Civic Hybrid which is non plug in, but the fuel economy is about half, so he has achieved saving half the fuel costs quite cheaply

RUC is coming to EVs from 2021. However, I imagine RUC will have a change up before that happens. If it was introduced as it is now then EVs would pay more RUC than Hybrids. Plug in Hybrids would get the worse deal since they'd pay double RUC.

$2.35 for 95 up my way. Costs me $77.55 for 33litres, and I can get 620km out of that :)
I had to go into town (Hastings) Wednesday for a flu jab. I pass most of the petrol stations on the way. 91 was $1.75 everywhere I looked.

NPD have announced they are expanding across to the North Island with sites in Porirua and New Plymouth before Christmas.
Porirua I know hasn't had the full effect of Waitomo and Gull opening up in the Wellington Region so this is good news for that area
