Petrol prices on display for 91 octane ranged from $2.269 a litre to $2.279 at two petrol stations I saw earlier today. (BP & Mobil)   Diesel was about $1.68 to $1.70.

These prices are getting very close to $2.30 which was a record for Christchurch last year.   Judging by what I am seeing on Aljazeera today I think the price may beat that record before long...

Anyway, what are you paying in your city?

What I notice in Christchurch is that it's extremely unusual to see more than a 1 cent difference in price between the different brands.   Very different to the Gold Coast, where on the bus ride back to the airport I saw prices varying by up to 10 cents per litre, and of course hugely cheaper than NZ.

I dove my car from Christchurch to Tauranga (only used 50lt Diesel) last September and the price in Christchurch was $1.789lt and a few days later filled her up and it was $1.359lt, (43 cents a litre less in the BOP) that's the "Gull effect" I guess.

Creeping up...prices from GasSpy...

Johnsonville (for 91)

Challenge: 216.9

Mobil: 220.9

BP: 221.9

Z: 221.9

And I'm sure it was only 220.9 at BP Johnsonville this morning when I went past.

Wellington CBD:

BP Roadmaster: 229.9 (?)

If that BP Roadmaster price is correct, then that is just taking the you know what. For it to be 8c a litre more than Johnsonville is daylight robbery. Personally, i think the Wellington stations have been gradually upping the price before Waitomo opens. And the sooner that happens, the better.

Yup just down the road from me. :)

There is also an NPD at the north end of Oamaru which is where we have been getting our fuel as it is usually at least 10c cheaper for 91 and about 18c cheaper for diesal.

My local has gone up 30c for diesel in the last 4 months. Was 1.399 now 1.699.

This is Otaki on Kapiti Coast. We only have BP and Mobil now after the Caltex closed last month to be demolished for commercial buildings.

Pretty sure it was around 1.20 when I last drove through Levin only 15 minutes up the road so I might do a reccie and fill the car up.

It's about 2.27 in Dunedin before any discounts ATM. I seem to remember it got to 2.46 or so last year down here, so a wee way to go yet.
But it has sure jumped in the last few weeks.

Complete rort - especially in CHCH. The most greediest owner sets the price in the morning, and within hours everyone has the same price within town. It's complete collusion. Greedy bastards.

I don''t get why someone (Not NPD) actually grows some balls and has it set to 5cpl less than everyone else?
