Could any 3 owners comment on highway road noise? You would expect these cars to be near silent but from what I've read there's a lot of wind and tyre noise (especially on coarse chip). Cheers.

Any car has "wind and wheels". But EVs don't have engine noise. I've owned a Tesla Model 3 Performance. It's quiet around town. Less quiet on chip and gravel.

How much noise is too much? I was with it.

My current car is an MG ZS EV. It's about the same: silent car + wind and wheels.

Chip seal in NZ is loud.

The model 3, new ones have double glazing etc, will still be noisy doing 100 on chip seal, nice sections of tarmac its really quiet then ....

I dont think its noisier than average for EVs and differences will be quite subtle unless you go for an EQC , as per Bjorns tests etc.

I read that too before buying. Been very happy. Not much noise in the newer model 3. I think its quieter than my Land Cruiser (the plush one).

Yeah, mirrors the changes that have been noted in the US; watched this Ryan Shaw YT video yesterday (he's somewhat boring but a good source of info...): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEcpNcQomFs

He was talking about some models getting slower in the 0-62 acceleration - what was the figure prior to the now quoted 6.1? (Ah, we may be meaning the same here - I was thinking of 'the previous number dropping' so the car getting faster, but you may not mean that?)

What the heck? Half a second slower? That's a deal breaker. đŸ¤¬

Is there any generally agreed reason as to why this has happened? I think in that video he was wondering whether it’s the change to the different batteries (but I thought that had happened to the NZ cars already?).

In the end, even if the Y ‘standard range’ ends up slower than current figures it’s still going to be faster than the entry-level Ioniq 5, EV6 or TG%7#F or whatever the new Toyota is called… The Ioniq 5 I drove was certainly not designed for burning rubber!

VedaPrime says its a change to the motor, more efficient but less power, so increase in range of 50km ish (along with the larger 60kwh battery)

Interesting that HK is still showing 448km range and 5.6s, the Y is 455km and 5.6s for them.

It does show the new 'Model 3' name rather than SR+

In the US, Midnight Silver has now been added as a free colour and the cost of Black has decreased. So White or Silver is no extra cost. This hasn't happened for NZ yet, but in the past Tesla has mirrored the paint options in the US, EU and Oceania.

Thanks for this. If this is carried through to NZ and then the Y when released it means I’d not be forced to cope with a white car should the cost of the SR+ cheaper paint option is greater than $80k!

For example the base model is $44,990USD now, convert to NZD and add GST ... gets you $73,000
