We took a holiday on the gold coast back in 2019 and the fuel penalty price for not returning the car with a full tank was still cheaper than the price per/L than we paid in NZ at the time 🤣

We did return it with a full tank of gas but thought it was quite hard case at the time

Gull opened near me recently and the price differences are stark.

Drove from Mt. Wellington to Hunua and back yesterday - used I est. >$35 of fuel... Gotta buy high octane now too.

I did noticed a new petrol company in Manukau, NPD I think was the name with 100 octane!!!

Nelson Petrolum Distribution

Reseller of one of the big brands, so buys bulk and low overheads as mostly unmanned/automated. Normaly find pump price the same as the nearest Z with the every-day discount applied or a bit sharper.

Wellington prices:

BP Connect Roadmaster (across the street from Te Papa)

91 = 2.609
98 = 2.729

BP Connect Johnsonville

91 = 2.579
98 = 2.729

Waitomo

91 = 2.339
95 = 2.499

Prices from Gaspy. With the BP you could save either 6 cents per litre or 10 cents depending on the day of the week and the Smartfuel discount.

Pak n Save Petone is slightly cheaper again. Gaspy is saying the following which I think is the pump price before any voucher discount, which is usually 6 cents

91 = 2.279
95 = 2.397

With these prices, it is impacting what to do/where to go in the weekends

For those with businesses, I recommend getting fuel cards. The discounts can be very useful. Mobil is 12c/l for example.

That's what I've been using for a couple of years now. And you don't have to own a business to get one!

For those who need 95 a trip to Petone from Wellington is well worth it. 239.7 at Pak n Save Petone, Hutt City New World and Pak 'n Save vs the 271.9 - 276.9 range in the Wgtn CBD.

Even in Lower Hutt driving home last night the Z directly opposite Pak n Save last night was 23c more expensive than Pak n Save and for 95 and 18c more expensive for 91

I still have 95 left on my Z sharetank that I purchased at 192.9 but I'm waiting for it to hit 292.9 to cash some more in for a bigger saving on the receipt!

In parts of Wellington region that still makes it a lot more expensive than just fueling up at New World / Pak N Save

That's ultimately why I haven't bothered with a fuel card as getting it from Gull etc is cheaper. I used 1925L last year which is quite a bit less than normal.
So that's 1925L of 91 at an average of $1.889 mostly upper North Island.

Our local BP just went up 10c/L today to $2.55.9, that matches the local record from a few years ago.

98 is getting really close to breaking the $3/L mark at the more expensive retailers in Auckland ($2.839 seems to be common), and diesel is closing in on the $2/L mark (1.949 seems common).

12c/L
