Consumer Reports in the US considers paint defects and panel issues in their reliability score. Personally, while they are issues, I'd consider them Quality issues. To me, Reliability issues are those that leave you stranded or are an issue that means part of the vehicle isn't working, aka mechanical issues.
I haven't had any mechanical issues on my Model 3 in the almost two years I've now had it. I did have a few small quality issues (internal trim fitment and rattles) when I reveived it in 2019 but Tesla resolved that with mobile service - they fixed it in my work car park.
FWIW, Consumer Reports also has Tesla topping their Customer Satisfaction surveys. Personally, I'd rather see what Consumer NZ has to say. I remember doing a survey from them earlier this year in regards to the experience with my vehicle (wasn't Tesla specific).
Yep, I tend to agree. Hence the comment I made about knowing how reliability was measured.
I think I took part in the same Consumer survey. Having seen the results of even Consumer NZ reports I must admit they still need to be used along side other information.
