Thanks very much @ShinyChrome that did the trick
So, RUC miles deadline upon us. Struggling to use the RUC website, obviously everyone trying to use it at once.
Sure, I'll remember to do this first lot, as I've had reminders from all sorts of directions. But after this, I'm on my own right? I'm totally not going to remember this.
Is there some automated way to track mileage send out a ping? Hidden Leaf feature? Some sort of OBDII/Smart App? Basic GPS tracker in the car?

everettpsycho: Only other option is make sure to reset your trip odometer and use that to go from 0 to however many you purchased.
That's a nice little hack & in expensive. Worthy of going into the thread with all the little life hacks / tips.
RUKI: @DumKopf ... and never top up your 12V battery.

Simple and effective, I like it.
Another low tech solution is to write the end range from the RUC label on a small adhesive label and it stick it somewhere next to your odometer

its set to about 13.1v which is just not enough so they tend to go flat quiet easily especially in winter.
The Calcium batteries really need 14.2v+
Im testing removing the battery sense wire to see if that changes thing

Scott3: ... Some people choose to put the 12v battery on an external charger every few months. Doing so should reduce the occurrence of 12v related issues, and mean the 12v battery has a longer lifespan.
Thx for that. I'll look into getting an external charger. Just last week I put in a new battery. That's 3 battery replacements in 8 years plus the original battery.
Having said that, so far the car has only cost me several tyres, the batteries, 1 set of wipers & 1 headlamp globe. Very worthwhile purchase.

Wow, that is a significant number! When we sold my wife's Leaf after six years of ownership it still had the battery it came with (unsure how old that was but it was Japanese; we were the first NZ owners).
Then again, when we sold it the HV battery had degraded to something like 7 or 8 bars from 12, and I know which of these problems I'd rather have...
Our previous 2012 Leaf required a new 12V battery just prior to us taking delivery of it in 2014 as the OE had pegged out enroute from Japan. That replacement lasted ~9 years (80K+ kms) when the 12V monitoring system failed and a new one was installed as we tracked down the actual problem. Whether it would have still been usable now is unknown.

How much was this car?
Jase2985:
Ended up with a 2018 Leaf G model with Pro Pilot in Grey. It's in very tidy condition, with only just shy of 11,000km on the clock. Sat in it for about an hour or so when i got it home while reading the manual and understanding all the settings.
Should do us well and once we get solar that should cover the charging of it.
