I usually aim for Z as my unscientific research shows their 95 octane is better price than others. If you need more octane TimA try adding a few litres of Xylene (paint thinner) its octane is around 114 iirc. Great for track days.

Mobil, because they are on my way to/from work, I prefer 98 and they do decent hot chocolates and have a carwash.

TimA:
bigreddog: What makes you say that TimA?

Doesn't go nicely with my old cars :)
Not good with the rubber piping. It tends to gum up parts quickly if it sits too long. Clogged up some injectors in a car i had. My mates and i stay away from it as rule of thumb.

Also, there's this (1Litre of ethanol-blended fuel will go less distance, all other things being equal, than non ethanol-blended fuel).

BP to use the SmartFuel discount. Spend $40 at a time to get the discount, but only cash it in when actually filling up, can add up to quite a nice saving.

No petrol is good with rubber, it melts it pretty quickly :)

When I had the MPS, BP because they were the only ones down here with 98. With my current not-so-flash Fielder, usually Z because Air Points.

BP because clean 98. Unfortunately closest BP is on the motorway and they hike the price, so when possible tend to fill at the first BP I pass when I get below half a tank.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I fill up at the local servo, which happens to be an independant Challenge from memory.

I chose them because they're local, friendly, and their prices are consistently cheaper than other places. They have to pay for the delivered fuel in @4 days, so they say they're better off selling loads for a little less.
They also don't have a meltdown if I've forgotten my wallet.

Otherwise, the closest. If there's a choice, I'll go Z.

Switched to gull recently. Always cheaper than bp with a discount.

As a side note, does anyone use a smart phone app to keep track of fuel prices or how efficient your car is (if you don't already have it built in)?

I use http://www.fuelly.com/

You are able to research your own car or motorbike.  If you register(free) you can monitor your own fuel ups.  It does have an app/mobile site as well

I use one called gas cubby but I'm not sure the data is backed up which I should sort out. Would hate to lose my data!

I use Z when I can as all the other servos I find in Hamilton are Prepay, at least with Pay at Pump I don't have to guess how much the car needs.

The mobil I live near now has the policy where you can't ask to have to pump unlocked to fill it up, you have to guess how much you need and prepay it then if you have paid too much you have to go back inside to get a refund of the difference.
We're moving next week so going to have to start using BP as that is all that is local

BP in new lynn is my current goto station, mainly for the smart fuel card and the fact they they dont demand prepaying.

all depends if im out when it comes to time to fill up or not though really, Challenge in Swanson are always great with their customer service.

find it a complete nuisance when i have to go to the cashier, tell them that im filling up for them to actually allow it - even had one place demand my licence while i filled up! absurd! (the mobil one in kelston shopping centre is never to be considered again.)
fair to say, they do state prepay at the pumps, but really seems more like a, if we don't like the look of you, we will hold you to that, otherwise your fine to keep using it as normal.

in general, its mobil i have the biggest issues with, seem to always have some sort of gripe to have with them..

I usually go to the challange near me or Z newton road now I have a car that doesnt benifit from 98. When I was driving the skyline it would be BP usually as I would get more power up hills in taller gears with 98 so the gutless 2l wasnt reving like anything just maintining 55-60k up a hill, and there was better economy in $ per km on 98. The falcon doesnt get any more km per l on 98 over 95 that I could tell. I used to track it in fuelly but their mobile site sucked with its keyboard choices and the desktop one was too hard to use on a smartphone.

wont do prepay. If I need it and they are prepay and wont unlock for a fill I just put $20-30 in and dont buy anything else just to see me thru to getting to a place that doesnt screw around with that just to spite the place doing prepay.

Last time I tried to put a decent amount in on prepay they wanted me to do $99 on prepay then come back in and pay for more. Screw that.
