Woot. If you stop by Christchurch, ping me, be keen to check out a Spyder.

You can't park it in the motorbike parking areas, can you? It's got to be parked at a normal street parking?

I really have no idea. Where would you find that out?!

Had a great ride home yesterday; pretty good weather with only about 20 minutes of rain. Comfortable as you would expect from a machine designed to travel long distances.

Note to self for long rides though - wear earplugs under helmet!

My Dad used to own one of these. He went on rallies from Invercargill to Oxford comfortably (apart from the weather of course). No problems AFAIK.

He also went on the Brass Monkey Rally.

Yes.. any bikers will tell you so. My biker friends will suggest to get a radar detector, have one-sided plug-in headphone (just get a cheap one and chop one side off) and make sure long enough cable to reach the ear, and another to plug in the noise.

MikeB4: I think they are really cool but I have never worked out how to get a wheelchair rack on one

We have a lady in Putaruru that had a wheelchair attached to hers. She had a partial amputation of one of her legs.

Mind you I haven't seen her around for a while

I really have no idea. Where would you find that out?!

I asked AT, got an answer a couple of days ago.

------------------------------

Q: Are motorcycle tricycles like the Can-Am allowed to park in motorcycle parking spaces?

A: This is the definition of a motorcycle from the Road User Rule so if your vehicle complies point B then the answer will yes.

-------------------------------

Which basically means - no, you aren't allowed to park a Can-Am in a parking space reserved for motorcycles. It's a bit of a ridiculous rule imho because a motorbike with a sidecar IS allowed to park there. What's the difference?

Yes, but it would take up a HUGE amount of space in what are quite small motorcycle parks.  They really aren't bikes
