There's a couple in Wellington that I think are plain dangerous, where left turning traffic is given a green light AT THE SAME MOMENT that pedestrians are given a green light to cross the crossing on the road that the left turning traffic is about to enter, and the crossing is only a few metres around the bend.

Placing cars and pedestrians on the same piece of road at the same time deliberately seems like a recipe for disaster to me, despite the fact that the cars should of course give way.
