From what I've read here and seen online they're fake contact Trademe and Phillips and get a stop put on further sales from this trader

Phillips may sell plain packaged items to OEM car manufacturers but I doubt they're allowed to be resold as a retail item

Either the trader is being duped by a supplier or knows full well they're fake and is just trying to make it as difficult as possible for you to get the refund thinking you'll just give up out of share frustration my advice is DON'T give up get a hold of Phillips get a hold of Trademe and the ComCom and make as much noise as you can

If you used Pay Now(credit card via the TM site) you have buyer protection for the purchase, open a dispute to start the process. Include details ie the questionable legitimacy of the product, the struggle to return it(seller asking for courier fees + success fees and 10% restocking fee), any emails, pictures, websites etc you feel add value to your argument.

You never know how grey imports are sourced. Whether one is sure philips wouldn't do that and one has never seen a branded product in a cardboard box doesn't mean that can't be true. It may be, but that's a guess.

I have my doubt about the bulb shown above. Doesnt appear to be genuine.
If it was a repackaged bulb or one from a car dealer etc it would be packaged with labels on that box you see there.

Most aspects that can be seen from the photos seem to miss the usual "fake" signs but the printing on the base doesn't match any examples I can find online. Apart from differences in how it is justified the A in Germany has a dip in the crossbar not matched by any other sample I can find.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/bulbs/auction-1358481264.htm

Here is who i think the supplier is, You can see a whole range of bulbs that have no packaging that fall under the category of "Genuine" As far as i am concerned it is not a genuine part unless it is in a branded box or has the genuine security features.

This bulb here i would say is more genuine looking.. Has a toyota box and is for a toyota.
The printing on the lamp is also straight and not a mess as per the OP's photos.

If the bulbs have a serial number printed on them, then presumably that could be checked with Philips.

Red flag for me is only stock pictures when looking on trademe  This tends to mean fake or drop shipping.  It is not hard to take a real picture of product showing product and / or packaging.

I can let you know who it is http://petrojectnz.co.nz/

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=3211539

Been dealing with the owner Lawrence Fisher who's will reluctantly take them back if I pay his TradeMe success fee, his courier cost and a 10% restocking fee. A comprise of me paying the restocking fee was rejected. He didn't seem to want to accept that he could get TradeMe to refund his sucess fee, something about it being dishonest what ever that means.

So looks like my next course of action is TradeMe and failing that through MTA

Talk to trademe and MTA, I would also talk to the person who has the import rights to NZ/AU about the fakes.

They should be able to get the commission back by contacting trademe. I have had to do this a few times when I have refunded a buyer if they weren't happy with what they purchased.
