Whatever you decide, stay away from diesel Mazda CX5s, they have an extremely nasty reputation in the motor vehicle industry for blowing engines and reputable dealers won't touch them with a barge pole.

 

 

 

 

 

 

If it's an import you can go to the Mazda JP website with the VIN and see if it's had the recall work done. If so then you shouldn't have any issues. What I would say is diesels is no good for short around town driving, as you need to get the DPF to cycle. Long as you're doing a long trip (100k+) every few weeks it should be fine.

 

I had an Axela XD with the 2.3 TD and it went like a cut cat.

anyway this clip shows that of all the SUVs only one or 2 can even drive up ONE rung and it's not the X trail

 

 

My Pajero would go through that course reasonably comfortably, in factory trim and breeze through with decent off-road tyres.

Just don’t try and take a steep departure angle. The back bumper is a very large shovel.
