[snip]Got a letter for a speeding ticket,

I'd go by what the letter says to do in this situation - info straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

yes have asked for the details of other party ... fingers crossed ...

Camera tickets are not recorded against you

My guys get them occasionally and the ute's are against my name as the owner.

hey if you can be bothered getting your record, we will end this once and for all :p

Presumably he doesn't need to. As I'm sure most, unless blisteringly drunk, will be aware of receiving an infringement that incurs demerits, as you will need to be driving and pulled over to get it.

All the camera one's are simply a fine. I would strongly suggest not letting it go to third party debt collection.

Don't just pay it.  Yes the offence gets recorded in your name.  Depending what you do in the future this could cause some issues, for example firearms license, getting an endorsement on your license, or getting a transport service license.  Your traffic offence history is taken into account when making applications for some things.   May also impact your insurance.  Speed camera tickets are part of your offence history.  If you pay it, you are taking responsibility for the offence, and you may have to declare it, another example is when making a job application.

Presumably it will be sent for debt collection which will sound a whole lot worse. As for traffic offence history, where it will be recorded other than demerits?

If someone asks for your traffic offence history surely you can say, I have no or historic demerit points? Presumably you could actually request this. Are parking tickets an offence too?

In fact you can request your driving record.

I meant to not just pay it because it's easy, but take the time and steps and get it properly transferred into the drivers name.  I wasn't suggesting to just ignore it, that would be a bad idea.

There's more to your traffic history than demerit points. Other offences that don't have demerits are listed there also, and can cause problems later, particularly if you are a regular offender.  You can honestly say that you have no 'convictions' as to have a conviction means you have been to court for something and pleaded or been found guilty, such as careless driving or drink driving, but you can't say that you have no offences, at least not without lying.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

If you transfer the fine, they probably won't bother pursuing an overseas driver for a speeding fine.

I worked in car rentals for years and the NZ agencies didn't bother chasing overseas drivers for traffic infringements or offences.
