I think new tyres always feel lighter than the old ones. I'd say normally it's because A. They are at the correct pressure. B. You have full tread depth so there is probably a fraction less rubber on the road itself.

Honestly, if the tyres are at the correct pressure and the car isn't doing anything silly I think you'll get used to it.

I do about 40,000kms per year so go through tyres about every 18 months I guess. I love the feel of new tyres. It's like the power steering got a boost.

Chills: Where did you get the tyres put on and did they do alignment? A place like carters or tonys tire service (do they still exist?) or is it a smaller lesser-known shop?

OP said in an earlier post they got them from Advantage tyres. So I'm assuming they mean Advantage Tyre Solutions
Advantage Tyre Solutions is a combination of Beaurepaires and Advantage The Tyre Professonals. They are the BRGoodrich and Michelin outlets. They also stock Hankook

Bung:

You still have 2 of the original tyres on the back. They could be swapped with the front to see if it is the tyres making the difference.

Thank you 🙏🏽🐾

If it is the tyres, would they still potentially cause any issues if they were on the back?

Unlikely, the usual difference between brands is noise and you'd have noticed that while they were on front.

Okay yeah, almost 100% sure they won't fit knock offs.

For what it's worth, I'd at least give the tyre shop a chance to look into the issue. What you are describing is quite hard to pinpoint to a particular characterisic or fault, but given these are your contact with the road, there are a lot of factors that could be at play. It could be something simple and easy to fix.

Most people aren't looking to rip people off or do a terrible job, sometimes mistakes get made. I'd at least give them the chance to sort it out. I'd not delay in getting it back to them though, because whilst it's a little unlikely, there could be damage occuring.

I don't know for sure yet but they could be made specially for the Advantage company.
The tyres are the BF Goodrich Advantage range.

BF Good rich is a US-headquartered tyre manufacturer, and the name is just a coincidence. The Advantage Touring and Control are sold overseas, not just in NZ. They're generally well-regarded mid-price tyres.

I would suggest the BF's have a stiffer sidewall, and a more rigid tread for longer wear life. These could contribute to 'feeling' different.

Could be bad balancing, could be bad alignment, it could be a number of things.

My question is if you were to receive a full refund and go elsewhere, do you have spare tyres to fit to your rims because your old tyres are likely to have been disposed of already.

You really should let the shop try rectify the issue first, I doubt they would be overly keen on doing a full refund without any evidence that the tyres are the root cause.

Did you get a wheel alignment done at the same time as fitting new tyres?

Noise comes with how much you want to spend vs performance vs price. Even in the same brand and range, they have different manufacturing plants in different regions.

I've never noticed that much difference between BS Dayton and BF Advantage. However the one's in question were V speed rated and a different profile.

Weak/weird is a bit subjective. What do you mean by small? Tight and gripy or tight and thinner like lack of traction? That's how I'd associate small tires - an understeer feeling (not enough traction to corner tighter). Sometimes a little softness hugs the road better but pressures can make the difference.

But if you don't like it, and they are willing to swap them out for something else, you're already on the right path to finding what works for you. It could come at higher price as I don't think they do Bridegestone's. Maybe they have a Goodyear in the same profile that might work closer to those prices.

edit: Your's is just a 2WD? They do an all wheel drive version too. Tread depth and PSI is a little different on AWD's. My last AWD the previous owners had different tread depths and all the same PSI. A new centre diff later, new full set of tires and a pound less in the rear tires and it was like driving a whole new car.

I think your new tires are at the correct tire pressure from what you are describing. You might notice that you are saving fuel too. As for noise thats just the way it is. Some tires are nosier than others. Honestly I would just get used to it. :)

You can't expect all tyres to feel the same, they would have fitted the tyres that fitted your budget.

I wouldn't discount what the OP is reporting so easily. Almost no tyre change I have made in 30 years of driving and countless tyres changed, have resulted in as significant a change as is being reported.

Noise, yes, more than other changes, but driving dynamics, not so much. This isn't a high performance car, in round town driving, there should no next to no difference.

The OP needs to take the car back to the tyre place and get the situation looked at by them. Us guessing is pointless, we don't have enough information.

I've got the BF Goodrich Advantage Control on my Toyota and have never had an issue from the moment they were fitted and do at least 400km a week in all types of weather conditions.

Check to see if they have been mounted with the tyre rotation arrows pointing clockwise as you look square onto the rim of the tyre.

If applicable.

This happened to a friend. They put all 4 of her tires around the wrong way. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the shop that starts with T.
