Looks like I'm out. I have a RealMe account but I can't verify my identify. I have none of these documents.

As an Australian citizen I'm a permanent resident of New Zealand but I have no immigration certificate to use in place of an NZ Passport.

You can get an "immimgration certificate" if you want, it is not well named, they actually mean the INZ letter confirming yur immigration status. Go here, select "I would like to request or correct information held about me by Immigration New Zealand", then "Request", then "a letter to confirm my immigration status in New Zealand".

Having Real Me as a requirement is a huge problem. I've never managed to reliably use the service. Even right now trying to retrieve my details I'm getting.

We can't process your request right now, please try again later.

I also find it amusing that you can't use your existing physical drivers license as a form of ID.

Thanks. I've submitted the form. Will be interesting to see what they provide and whether I can use that to verify my RealMe ID.

There's a lot to be said for combining pen and paper and sticking to a fridge or in your (actual) wallet it seems.

Quick and painless to do easy to add cars and check out details. Hopefully this lead to digital licenses like Aussie and then I won’t need to carry my wallet for 1 card. All my other cards I got is digital. πŸ˜€

I'm pretty sure that you need RealMe to apply for a passport these days.

Shirley Knott!

Far too many people getting passports but not that many people have RealMe.

Might need one to apply online though

Pretty basic at this stage but flawless setup/instal and cool already. Can see how this could be great once it gets cranked up and enhanced to include reminders, rego/RUC transactions etc - and of course digital DL.

Also good to see confirmation that my demerit points have expired as hoped/expected. πŸ˜€

But it doesn't need to be a verified account,  which is what you need here

I'm with you on that, I jumped through many hoops to get verified and get my passport. Then after 5 years they required me to re-verify by head nodding and other shenanigans in front of the web cam, which I failed miserably at and vowed to never bother again.

That's true. Setting up and maintaining RM is a PITA (although having it already set up made the NZTA thing very easy).

It would be interesting to know how many Kiwis actually have RM set up  - due to its PITAness I'd guess it's not widespread. If that's correct, take-up of the NZTA app may be limited so long as full and verified RM is required.
