The new rav4 seems a bit of a downgrade. Also lacks a lot of buttons and relies on the touch screen. Although the new CX5 takes that to another level.
It's circling around quite a bit but I got a Clanker to build this for me (iterated many times now): https://notoil.interwebz.nz/
If anyone wanted some stats of EV vs ICE along with other information then there you go.
I was prompted to build something after seeing the many Petrol / Diesel doom dashboards also written by clankers. I felt left out. There is a way out of that life if you wish to do so.

Cool,
Although I feel that the continually ticking "seconds" countdown to empty is a bit catastrophic....

Dubai crude is the only or major source crude grade for NZs usual refined fuel suppliers?
Huh? Dubai produces minimal crude oil. Abu Dhabi is a big crude producer but Dubai doesn’t export much crude at all.
New Zealand sources most of its refined oil from Korea and Singapore. They mostly source their crude from various GCC states.

Looks nice, although I don't think the petrol pump to EV charger comparison is fair. It's not a simple "many more cars per pump than EV chargers" comparison because you need to take time spent at the site into account. Really needs an Erlang calculation to make it completely fair. Which is to say, if the average EV spends 30 minutes at a charger, and there are this many EVs wanting to charge, how many chargers do we need to ensure that no EV waits more than X minutes for a free charger? That's Erlangs. :-)

gzt: 39c per kw seems like a pessimistic average even if it's strictly accurate.
In practice it's pretty hard to find the actual average rate that actual EV owners are paying, excluding feed-in of course.
I'd suggest the actual EV owner rate is typically lower if for no other reason than people typically start considering price and provider a little more than usual after acquiring an EV. Hard..
Edit: Anyway great effort from public data!
$0.39/kWh would be close to the price I'd pay if I always charged my EV at home on an 'Anytime' tariff (Genesis / Powerco).
If I chose a Time-of-Use tariff and charged my car always or even mostly on the cheaper rate at night, it'd be cheaper than $0.39.
As I have PV and charge mostly at home and mostly from the PV (which 'costs' the FIT (feed-in-tariff) rate, $0.125/kWh) it's substantially cheaper than $0.39.
I only have four months' data so far, but my average cost is just over $0.29/kWh ($0.123/km including RUC)
That's with just over 20% of the electricity used so far bought from fast chargers, and of the remaining 80% almost all (~90%) costing only FIT by charging when the PV is generating.

shouldn’t all new vehicles now run on 91?
Our hatchback will run on anything from 91 up. But it's much better to drive on 98. Our performance vehicle needs at least 95 but does much better on 98. I've never put 91 in it and I never will.
The boat ... 91 only according to the outboard dealer. At the moment though, fuel is too expensive for boating and burning fuel for recreation seems irresponsible.

Fuel price is a scam! Everything shoots up locally before there’s any actually local supply issue, then it goes up even more if there’s an actual issue, and then it stays high for a long time after the supply issue is resolved. Smh …

An extra $50 a week for approximately 140,000 families if they get the In Work Tax Credit.
Not good enough , would rather the tax drop 20c per litre. Doesn’t help students , pensioners , unemployed or middle class NZ
