That satiric piece makes some good points but starts off incorrectly - the Model 3 Performance is over $80k so won't qualify for feebate so the value of the car hasn't lost $9k.

A video from Shmee150 looking at another YouTuber's  Tesla Model S Plaid. Video features a couple of runs at the Drag Strip, and you can't argue with the speed of the thing.

On the minus side of owning a Tesla Plaid is the increased testosterone can cause acne, aggressiveness, baldness, more body hair, moodiness, and trouble peeing.

Surely there's someone out there with spare tyres in the garage and some project money to chop one of these into shape and add some reinforcing?

This is a real thing. There are build videos elsewhere. Um.. I can't see it lasting that long on the farm but anyway it would be fun to find out how long.

Well you say that, but last week on my way to the supermarket, despite us being literally the only three cars on SH1, I saw a BMW X3 overtake a BMW 5-series across double yellow lines. So I don't think it's really confined to Tesla ownership. :-D

No idea why kingdragonfly is so jealous of plaid owners but its a pretty horrid thing to be saying whatever.

Agree, don't think that sort of action is confined to any particular make of vehicle.

I was on a motoring forum earlier and someone linked these articles.

Looks like an interesting concept for someone who wishes to electrify a classic vehicle.

"What might surprise you is that the Eluminator crate engine, which is the same engine used in the 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT"

What might surprise you more is that its a BorgWarner supplied unit that ford are just going to resell you.

That's not that surprising really. Borg Warner have been supplying transmissions to many manufacturers for years now. When it comes to engines manufacturers have generally used their own designs but not always. Even with the in house engines much of the engine management architecture etc is from just one or two outfits like Bosch. More and more these days the supply of major components is from specialised manufacturers even though it might be branded by the OEM.

In Fords case with the E Mustang, they are integrating their (Borg Warner's) transmission with a motor and control systems from another manufacturer, they don't say who. For all we know it may be a motor and control system made by Ford though I suspect not. The unit may come from Borg Warner but it's not all their stuff inside.

The unit from Borg Warner in this case will be tailored to Fords requirements. You most likely won't be able go to Borg Warner and buy a generic Borg Warner unit to fit your Ford.

No, its a borg warner motor.

Not sure why you'd want that motor over one of the many other EV motors out there.

I'm not sure where you got your info from but this is from the Borg Warner info on the Ford package.

The iDM comes complete with a BorgWarner gearbox integrated with a motor and power electronics from other suppliers, and showcases the company’s extensive knowledge of system integration.
