When I see it happening in front of me I usually hit my horn to let them know it's not appreciated

Some people legitimately don't know the area though. You might be blasting some poor tourist or out-of-towner who had no idea.   They'll go back to their people and talk about the rude aucklanders.

But yeah, i get it.

Could be, but you see people pull out of a slow middle lane into the left lane, zoom ahead and pull back into the middle lane at the merge point.  They're intentionally queue jumping rather than confused yokels.

Queue jumping is a pest.

The behaviour only persists because of people who let them in ...

I don't think we want to go down the route of blocking people, even if they are ass-hats.

One of my peeves is the Gillies Ave northbound on ramp, where drivers asshats use the right hand eastbound to turn the sharp left onto the northbound on-ramp, even though there are 2 places that clearly states NO LEFT TURN. This then jams up the traffic coming from Newmarket.

I often wonder who would be in the wrong if an accident occurred there - the person turning the sharp left against a no left turn sign, or the person who turned right into the on ramp.

The Wellington Council is spending a ton of our money installing cycleways on the Hutt Road and cyclists still insist on riding on the road. That makes me really angry but I don't do Twitter so I really don't have an avenue to vent.

My condolences.

Many a suspension, wing mirror, mag wheel damage and stop-in-the-middle traffic rage has ensued over much of chc.

The close dashed white line to the right of the driver starts a loooooong way back, at Market Road, indicating that that lane is exit only. It's an internationally recognised road marking for that purpose.

Unfortunately, this is one instance where one SHOULD attribute to malice (or perhaps arrogance/selfishness) that which is adequately explained by ignorance.

One of the pseudo-current affairs programs did a sting on this at that spot about a year back.

I suspect the right turner would be in the wrong because they give way to everyone else - straight through AND left turning (even against a sign) traffic.

Oh, I don't know about that. It can be quite fun. I once forced a guy trying to get off at Nelson Street to go via the North Shore after he intentionally closed the gap I was merging into as I joined the motorway at Greenlane by returning the favour.

It's all fun until you realise the guy's got mates and a couple tyre irons aboard. Or he just rams you into the path of a concrete truck.

People not driving with their lights on, in pitch darkness - the number of people doing this around Blenheim Road/Riccarton Road/Mall area on Thursday 15th did my head in

(and then not to mention the two people on bikes who had no lights as well ...)

Several times last winter picking up my partner near Westfield Riccarton I'd see at least 5 cars without lights on. (Street lights were on),

and an average of 1 in 5 with at least 1 brake light not working! Indicators seem to be "optional" on 1 in 3 as well!

Most cyclists wore no helmets either.

(Had to do something while waiting!)

Just the other day I watched in horror as a lady drove through a signalised intersection, looking down, no hands on wheel, both hands on phone, doing 45-50kmph. I am annoyed I did not get license plate.

If I see people on phones I will make it known I see them, most just ignore me.

We definitely do. It's how ass-hats learn

I did this to a tractor unit a couple of weeks ago.  The driver used a left turn only lane to queue jump and then tried to force his way back into the straight traffic lane right in front of me.  It's slow congested intersection and I was towing the boat.  He didn't even indicate: Ass-hat.  I was alone so I held my ground and he had to stop dead.  Was still stuck there when I lost sight of him.

His potential jump - 4 places.  Actual loss probably about 30.  Ass-hat.
