Over the course of 30+ years I can't think of a single person I know who's purchased a car from Turners and had a good experience. I concede that people are more likely to be vocal about a bad experience than a good one but still.

We've never had any issues with cars bought from them, often ex-fleet cars in good condition that have been properly maintained but have reasonably high km's, probably 5 or 6 over the last 30 years with out issues.

Agreed. The only reason to use turners is because you can't sell or get decent trade in value

It's currently awaiting a hearing date. The MVDT was incredibly efficient - they replied to my application within 24 hours.

Turners waited the full 16 days to provide their "report" to the Tribunal, which was an email saying they don't think they're liable.

Excellent, let us know how you get on.

Still waiting on a hearing date. The adjudicator wrote to me a few weeks ago requesting copies of receipts relating to the modifications done to the vehicle (bumper, winch, tires etc.).

Turners is just a dumping ground for cars you don't want to sell on Trademe, as you're afraid the buyer will come knocking on your door a few weeks on demanding money back.

Was that after approaching the dealer that sold you the Suzuki? Most seemed keen to get late model 2nd hand to replace the new cars they weren't able to get.

I received the decision letter today. Turners is to pay $2000 towards the repair of the transmission (which hasn't been quoted as of yet).

A few years back we bought a second-hand VW Golf from an Auckland dealer. The car arrived and straight away we noticed transmission problems. Their Wellington branch "fixed" it but it wasn't fixed. We then had the car properly fixed somewhere else and asked for the repair amount. They said they would pay but went silent.

We got into the MV disputes tribunal and two days before the hearing we got a phone call asking for a bank account and to get the case dismissed.

Update 17/10: I picked the vehicle up today and it works great (although with a few cobwebs and quite dirty after sitting outside for 8 months). I paid $2000 towards the total repair cost of $4,136.08.
