Am a bit surprised they haven't set up U GO to accept Z petrol cards. Mobilcard accepted at their other brands (e.g. Waitomoto). BP card accepted at GAS etc.

From what i can see the U GO payments infrastructure sems to be just rebranded Z but perhaps it's actually all different under the hood but given it's a low cost brand I am quite sure they piggy back off Z's systems...

Same problem affects sharetank users that have stuff in that and now their store has changed so they cant use it. I dont think onewa road will be closing or converting anytime soon so I am ok for now, but if it does then it just leaves me having to go more and more out of my way to use up what I have in there.

I’m wondering how long Z Seaview will stay in it’s current form, NPD have opened up across the road and undercutting them on average 30c/L

For what's its worth NPD long term game won't be to undercut. Seems to just be a promo they do to attract new business for a period of time after setting up a new station. My local NPD which has been around for a while has retreated to within 6c of Mobil/BP/Z making it pointless if you hold a card/app that gets 6c or more discount and reward points from the big players. They still do special days when they do perhaps 10-15c off but the traffic nightmare they create on those days makes it not worth the trip.

Strange.. Down here in Chch today majority of Z are $2.80 and BP are $2.78/.79. But Waitomo/Allied/Pak n Save are all $2.49/.50 then your Gulls/UGo and Tasman in the low to mid $2.5x. Really pays to keep an eye on Gaspy app as they move so fast everyday. Thats all 95 pricing btw

Agree Gaspy is useful. Using today as an example:-

NPD 239.6 at all their sites in my area

Cheapest Mobil is 229.6 incl 10c discount (I have a Fuelcard)

Cheapest Gull is 233.9

Cheapest GAS is 234.9 incl 6c discount.

Cheapest Caltex is 234.9 incl 6c discount

Cheapest Z is 235.9 incl 6c discount.

Cheapest BP is 239.9 incl 6c discount.

Does pay to check as NPD is not always the cheapest once you take into account discounts and other perks you can get from the other players.

The low NPD price has dragged down the prices at the nearby "low costs" Gull and Waitomo on the Petone strip + Push'n'Shove  up on Jackson street

Seems like there are few Z stations left -  many in my area are U-Go now and the remaining Z are about $2/L for diesel but all the best prices on Gaspy within a few K of me are sub $1.60

Or perhaps the Caltex on Hutt Road.

Its being converted currently. I went to fill up today, but it was closed off 🙄 I just hope the prices remain cheap.

The Z website lists 228 of them. I've never seen a U-Go "in the wild" (I live in the Bay of Plenty and it seems there's only 1 here).

I thought that number was quite high so had a look and found there are some double counts - e.g. some locations are coutned twice as a normal station and as a truck stop - so probably actually less than that.

Can't say I'm surprised - in my cynical view it's all about giving the illusion of competition...

The only Caltex station near me (Old Hutt Rd) is being converted to U Go. Now there are so few Caltex stations in Wellington, I wonder if Caltex doesn't think there is any business here and preferred to sell out?  That is quite annoying.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Caltex is owned by Z and appeared to be positioned as their low cost brand. I imagine that the U Go brand will replace it.

In 2022 Z licenced  the "Caltex" brand for a further 5 years,

Will bet you real money they are all gone by the time the deal expires in 2027....
