I fear you are going to have a nasty accident when one of these ass-hats has 'moment' and just shunts you out of the way.

Friday morning and people are taking 3.5h to get to Whangamata from Auckland, usually a 2h trip without traffic.
Google says go via Hunua and Miranda will take 2.75h and bugger me it did. What's more it was a nice steady drive, and no ass-hats were seen!

SepticSceptic:

One of my peeves is the Gillies Ave northbound on ramp, where drivers asshats use the right hand eastbound to turn the sharp left onto the northbound on-ramp, even though there are 2 places that clearly states NO LEFT TURN. This then jams up the traffic coming from Newmarket.

I often wonder who would be in the wrong if an accident occurred there - the person turning the sharp left against a no left turn sign, or the person who turned right into the on ramp.

I honestly don't know why they don't put directional spikes on the corner. I've seen them in Aussie to stop people driving the wrong way into carparks.

That intersection was a pet peeve of mine, especially if you'd queued several streets back. I've blocked more than my far share by keeping level with people trying to get in.

Spikes cost money, also can lead to legal issues.

That is Wellingtons motorways for you. They shouldn't be queued up like that to cause those type of dangerous situations, as the roading wasn't designed for it. But there are also drivers who do take advantage of teh situation by driving alongside the queue and pushing in. But those drivers who refuse to let them in are also a problem. .Some of those however could be drivers who may not be familar with the lanes they need to be in, and then realise they are in the wrong lane, and need to move into the congested lane.

Also that guy driving on the shoulder lane at 1.17...

Had a guy coming behind me, squeezing to the right (I was overtaking), overtaking me while I was overtaking by crossing in front of me, then going back to the left lane because he was actually taking the next exit, which was 200 m ahead. He couldn't wait behind on his own lane. Sorry, I have the video but won't go to the car now to get the card and edit it out. But the guy was a tool.

I come via Tinakori Rd and take the on ramp onto the motorway to get off at the terrace, that whole section of motorway is just stupid.

So many idiots take the Karori offramp only to get back onto the on ramp so they can save a minute off their commute. The other issue is people trying to merge across two lanes to get to the terrace tunnel.

It just causes that long as queue in the mornings, as once you get past that it's pretty much a free run onto the terrace.

It looks like the road markings changed in that area with remains of the previous.
