OPEC to cut production as per Russia request (that's what i'm reading - not sure if that's right) to jack up fuel prices

I like the idea of having to hold more stock on shore. It’s a great idea since we don’t refine our own.

However not sold on the setting of wholesale prices. It’ll just mean if the margin on wholesale prices is reduced, the margin will just be added to the retail price.

Unless of course I’d you happen to live in a centre that happens to have a Gull/NPD/Waitomo nearby. If you don’t, bad luck your retail price will be inflated significantly to make up the losses at the wholesale margin.

at the moment we just give all our money to these countries to give us oil to move our salads around the country

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

No, or dig for oil as it wont be turned off next week. The issue is, will [insert country here] make an effort or not.

Like many things, its about me (citizens, elected MP's, votes) Its more ideal if I hammer the oil and I catch up later...

I think you have missed the point. Don't blame the producers, blame the users, who feed the producers.

I went into the Porirua Pak n Save yesterday to buy a few items so I'd get their 6c/litre discount voucher as my car needed filling up. Was pleasantly surprised, and very happy, to get a 20c/litre discount voucher.

Edit: That brought the price down to about $2.27/litre.

Thats shows the "leeway" they have. But when Joe Blogg goes elsewhere, full noise. Would probably be better if everyone got a similar deal

Well after all the hooting and hollering from the Government  including crazy statements like

"The Government expects to drive down petrol prices by between 18-32c a litre as a result of new rules which are expected to "swiftly" break the supply dominance of big fuel companies."

We appear to have now come full circle and belatedly the government  has recognised that Fuel retailing is a Cost+ business  that government has very little control over... and if you pay "too much" its your fault...

"Commissioner Dr John Small said in many cases motorists could get a much better deal “simply by crossing the road to another petrol station”. Motorists should shop around both to find the best deal and to encourage competition between retailers, he said."

"The commission’s report found that fuel prices increased during the June quarter, driven by the international price of crude oil and foreign exchange movements."
