I get around 15-16 as well but that's at least partly because I drive very conservatively due to the poor SOH. I expect that would drop if and when I got a replacement battery.

Kia's "Plan S" - what a bizarre name. There's contradictory news articles whether "S" is for "Shift" or "Strategy."

Perhaps "S" is for "scared we're too late" or "name slot" or "shove in name here".

My first thought was "what happened to plan "A" through "R"

In The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), Plankton mentions that Plan Z is Lemon-scented.

Given there is no mention of the Clean car discount, I'm guessing they haven't been able to keep it under the 80K Cap..

I'd say you're right. Given the car sales boom in New Zealand, I guess "Plan 'S'" is for "Skim": Kia's going for the higher-price, higher profit strategy.

Stuff: Kia New Zealand's electric future has no room for the Stinger

...The EV6 is essentially Kia’s version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, with more of an eye on performance. The top-rung GT model gets a 77.4kWh battery paired with two electric motors, generating a combined 430kW and 740Nm. It’ll hit 100kmh in 3.5 seconds, Kia says, not far behind most current supercars.

Meanwhile, the base model and the mid-spec GT-Line can be had with a standard 58kWh battery pack and 2WD, with AWD and a larger 77.4kWh battery optional upgrades. Power ranges from 125kW/350Nm in 58kWh/2WD models to 239kW/605Nm in those with the larger battery and all-wheel drive.

Unfortunately, the arrival of the EV6, particularly the GT version, means there isn’t any room for the Stinger. The local press release confirmed the latest shipment of Stinger “will be the last.” The EV6 GT will effectively replace the Stinger, although we wouldn’t expect the same $75k price.

Perhaps they are waiting for a well placed tweet from Elon Musk, suggesting the NZ govt increase the rebate cutoff? Maybe to cover the base Model Y. The fact a mega giga personality recognises NZ even exists might sprinkle the right amount of stardust.

When I last enquired about the EV6, the blurb I got was Kia were hoping to have the base model under the cutoff, and “possibly even the 4WD” (unlikely though as projected to be $NZ90-110K depending on battery). The GT-Line starting from about $NZ120K.
