On Sunday after driving behind a muppet for ~5km, I lost my cool and then in the process became the muppet myself.

If anyone knows Dunedin, at the Oval there is a turn right to join the southern motorway/continuation of SH1
I was four cars behind the muppet who was at the front of the queue, he took off from the lights and got up to ~70kph (80kph zone). By the time we had reached the Caversham intersection, there was only one car between myself and the muppet.

Up the hill is a 60kph zone, muppet continued to do ~70kph and at the top of the hil the speed changes to 100kph ..
The person in front passes on the left but I am boxed in by the muppet who continues to do 70kph and traffic on my left - this continues until after the Green Island off ramp.
As the left hand lane opens up, I give the muppet (still doing 70kph) a blast of my horn, and he then brake checked me - about 1km down the road after the on ramp, he finally moves to the left and I race passed, blasting the horn as I go .. unfortunately in the process of passing I got a little excited about the freedom and caught myself doing 140kph

On my way to Newtown had this muppet who just barged in front of me causing me to brake then proceed to run a red light... Gave the footage to the Police as it was incredibly dangerous driving. Caught the driver up ahead doing more stupid stuff at a distance. Movement in video is me hitting the dashcam's save button.

Taxi standards certainly have gone downhill in Christchurch!

Last week a Blue Star Taxi was on Yellow Lines on a Cycleway with no-one around, while he did non-taxi business for over 15 minutes. (Pick up a passport)

(Plenty of "legal" parks 20 metres away!)

Today a Gold Band Taxi drove past a backlog of traffic for a block on the wrong side of the road before turning down a side street!

I had an interesting experience driving over Arthurs Pass the other day, there was a slow-ish car in front with a driver who probably enjoyed fine scenery, and a suicidal idiot in a white VW van on my tail who I let pass - because I'm a perfect driver.

Road was wet just past Otira, and after the suicidal idiot was in front of me, he was obviously frustrated at the slow/variable speed of the car in front, so he sits perhaps 500mm (not an exaggeration) from his rear bumper at about 90km/h on a wet twisty road in the rain. Next second, he's overtaking with zero visibility through a blind corner, absolute insanity. This did actually trigger me - I used to ride motorbikes but gave up when they invented things for sissies - like brakes that worked. A dangerous driving charge, huge fine, long license suspension wouldn't have been enough for this idiot - I was triggered to act in a more physical manner than either my ancient physique or normal placid nature should dictate. Luck was with me - he only got about 500m, and there was a red light at some road works. So I thought I'd have a wee chat. I took off my driving glasses, donned my trifocals, rolled up my sleeves, oiled my biceps, checked with my wife to be sure that I wasn't being overly optimistic, that I'd paid the life insurance and it was okay with me if she remarried so long as I was buried with surfboard, turned and told my son in the back seat that it'd all be okay but out of respect for me he should never call anybody else dad, adjusted my hernia belt, and after a final waxing of my moustache and check in the mirror, I set off to do my thing for my fellow man, woman &c.

He was some local tradie, very big tough guy but clearly very very scared of me (F*&k I love it when that happens - even if it's only this once in my life it ever happened - I'm hooked - and wanting to do it again in my dreams), sitting in his nice white VW van with a very clear "dont hurt me" gobsmacked expression on his face. He obviously didn't use a rear vision mirror, and had assumed that I was in fact the scenery obsessed driver of the vehicle he'd overtaken - and commenced to tell me that if there'd been an accident, it could have been seen to be my fault - because I'd been driving too slow and hadn't pulled over to let him pass when he wanted. This really killed me - I'm not often speechless - but... The light turned green, and he hit the gas pedal hard, never to be seen again. Overall, I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with the outcome of this episode, but I did try.

I'm asking Santa for a dashcam, and advance delivery.

Incidentally, the only police presence I saw between Chch and Hokitika was a speed camera, on a long downhill straight of clear wide road, in perfect dry 100% visibility conditions, near Castle Hill.

This morning I was probably the muppet on the road; I got cut off by someone moving into the outside lane in front of me who proceeded to do less than 100kmh. So once I got a space next to me I did something that I could only get away with in something the size of a Mini; into the lane next to us and around him and back into the lane I started.

It was pretty stink of him to just sit there after cutting me off but I probably frightened the bejesus out of him in the process and it was unnecessary; saved me all of 30 seconds over the length of the motorway?

Lessons for everyone I guess.

Haha yeah. I remember doing 1-up stuff like that when I first started driving... Now I just fully relax (when I'm not on the bus) and let the morons speed/undertake/change lanes without indicating/blow through yellows etc and not care one bit. Driving is easy!

Even in Wellington somebody stopped in the next lane indicating that they want in would probably get let in. To me he ran the orange.

I had a cracker tonight, lady had 4 attempts at getting into a standard park, finally moved so other could pass, including me.
Parked and shopped for 6-8 bits and came out and this driver was still positioning with traffic backed up, sometimes it’s best to move on or not bother

Saw this happening when I went across the road to the mailbox. They had someone outside the car directing them. And this is how they left it.

Sort of dopey in peak hour traffic, yeah. Aggressive dangerous, drugged, impaired, driver? From your video, no.

Happened a few months ago, but it was my first experience dealing with a complete idiot on the road.

Finally got my license after an embarrassingly long time on my learners and a few failed tests due to small things like stalling a 600cc manual on a steep hill (Even my father who owned the car stalled it every week). But got my restricted, a few months later, Bought a little 1L runnabout and first thing you gota do is take the gf out shopping.

Heading for Manukau for cheap deals, just left the new waterview tunnel. sitting just under the 100 speed limit after a few minutes, Road is absolutely clear, no one ahead or behind. Sitting in the left lane being a good driver and pass an onramp. No cars in need to merging so continued on. One car a bit further back but there was no way he would need me to give way. Or so I thought. He decides in his new Hyundai SUV that I needed to give way to him even though he didn't get to the motorway until I was 100 meters further down the road. So what does he do? floor it on the hard shoulder (Of which is quickly disappearing) and attempts to rocket passed me on the inside on the left lane. Mind you I'm doing 95 in a car designed for inner city driving in a 100 zone. Being an inexperienced driver, I'm a bit freaked, gf's freaked and the guy cuts me off just as the hard shoulder turnes into a barrier as I hit the breaks. Ended up with a nice orange line of paint on my front bumper and a broken clip on my bumper.

Report it anyway - most on and off-ramps are covered by CCTV, they should be able to find it if you have an accurate date/time.
