On gas spy, most of the self serves are more expensive than the stations with staff Christchurch. Fuel type 91. Prices are now near $2.50, where were around $2.20 yesterday. I filled car on Wednesday at special of $2.14.6
Todays prices with gas spy taking 6 cents off reported price staffed station. When I go past station today I’ll check if gas spy is correct price. Prices were updated in last hour.
IMO without checking, fuel prices have eased a lot in recent months. So a 29c increase now, is no big deal

To all those idiots that left it to the last minute to fill up every single container they had lying around the house … good luck with any insurance if you're holding more than 50L of petrol on your property without any permit or approved storage.
Those idiots aren’t so silly - if they spill any petrol, they’ll just mop it up with all the toilet paper they’ve been hoarding.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Sad state of affairs if people are stocking up on fuel like this to save a few bucks. Many people living very close to the bread line at the moment so best not to judge and call them idiots!

It may not be a big deal for you but the queues throughout the country showed it is a big deal for a lot of people...

My point was that fuel is not as expensive as it has been. Everyone feels the pinch, what else can we subsidise?
So people who “have no money”, line up and buy excess stocks of fuel so they don’t have to worry about “having money for necessities” in the future? Where does the money they spent now come from? Even if it’s on a credit card that only gets you a month before the piper must be paid.
I would suggest that most people that stockpiled are not on the breadline, but are people who are ‘canny’ with their money.
One news report I heard said petrol was $3.20/l when the government lowered the excise (to say it was a subsidy is just accounting, they collected less) and now it is $2.60 (incl Goff Tax where I am).

The fuel tank in my boat is close to 200L. I keep it full . I usually fuel up on the way home, so I'm ready to go whenever there is an opportunity.
I imagine many boat owners would have >50L of petrol in their boat at times. A common set-up might be 2 x 22L tote tanks and a 22L 'Jerry can'. One out, one home, and the third in reserve. If they have an underfloor tank, it will be more like 100L.

What is the definition of stored for the purpose of fuel being stored at home? I would expect that if it's in the vehicle, then it is not stored, so if you leave the 20l jugs in the boat, then its part of the boat and not the house.
Stored to me is sitting in a jug in the basement or shed alongside a mower or something. But what do they consider it to be?
I grabbed 950 litres on the Sharetank app. No driving to a cheap station, no queuing, no risk of storage. Seemed a no-brainer from where I was sitting.
