Holden all the way, for around $3 - $4,000 above the asking price you can have it tuned and put a air intake and exhaust on.

You'd be looking at 340 - 360kw and around 11l/100km.

Traction control and ESP work quite will on the SS and they have become a much better car than Ford.

Holden will continue to support the cars for over 10 years after manufacture so will Ford so no worries about parts really.

I just serviced my 5.7 and the belts were $58 for both trade price inc GST.

The ford belt is twice that for one!

Plus if you want to DIY the cars the parts are available from Summit racing for peanuts!

could be why the ford is dropped 20k and holden, umm .... no discount (well on paper anyway)

joker97: I doubt a q7 would be that cheap but I don't want either. Way too big and clumsy.

plenty of q7's under 50k, even nz new.

they look like a whale but are surprisingly agile, albeit not a match for a cayenne.

forget b8 rs4's - it's the worse drivers' rs4 yet.

a 3.0 tdi or s4 with supercharged v6 is almost as quick and better to drive.

cheaper too, though new rs4's are dropping in price by the day.

has anyone mentioned the chrysler 300 ?

an interesting alternative to a big falcadore.

Noooooooooooo.....
Q7 is relatively cheap for an 08 and 100 times better than the Falcodore.

joker97: hey who makes the transmission in the holden?

Haven't looked up the latest specs but BorgWarner have previously made transmissions and turbo chargers for both Ford and Holden. They quite probably still do.

Edit: being a bit more specific.

Your mad if you think your going to get a a RWD Falcon or Commy up a snowy hill in one piece.

I'd recommend a Landcruiser LX 70 Series. Its got a good trusty 4.5 litre V8 turbo charged diesel.

lol ... I thought so too - then I met a guy driving an XR8 and he says no problems. but yeah I'm pretty sure he was mad ... I think I'm gonna have to go subbie when they eventually go V8 and dual clutch transmission lol, or win lotto and go the European path

ah sorry I was thinking of the 200 series ... I don't think a 70 series will be comfortable on long drives, and the 150kw won't overtake any good

You would be surprised how comfy they are. The can be chipped and with the exhaust opened up a bit they gain a few my HP and sound really nice.

no borg warners for a looong time.

since the 1995 vs, auto trannies have been gm made, either 5Lxxx 5 speeders or 6Lxxx 6-speeders.

manuals have been from borg warner, getrag, aisin.

last borg warner manual was on the vx (?).

2013+ vf commodores use gm auto boxes, aisin, tremec manuals.
