kiwirock: I wonder what a kiwi car would be called. I think Mazda are very New Zealand oriented like the naming of our creeks:

Mazda 2
Mazda 3
Mazda 6

Technofreak: What about some of the slogans on the spare wheel covers on the Jap SUVs.  Some of them are just completely inane.

Then there's the Honda CRV - Comfortable Recreational Vehicle or the Toyota RAV - Recreational Active Vehicle

I thought RAV was Really Average Vehicle or Really Awful Vehicle?

One of my brothers has one and he is Mr Beige, so I stay well away from them.

I agree on the really awful option especially the 2 door ones.

The 90's ones were pretty average but the 2007+ are fine. Especially the ones branded Vanguard with the 206KW V6.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Toyota "FunCargo" 5 pages in.

I've always end up thinking "Fun Car Go".  Either way, I'm not sure how a car designed for cargo could be any fun in the slightest.  It's such a whale!

As a kid my parents had a Toyota Estima Lucida which I thought was a pretty weird name too.

Did we namecheck the Nissan Cube? Or the Renault Twingo?

How about the reverse of strange ones - extremely apt ones! Ford Transit - does exactly what it says on the tin! Range Rover.

It's not just HP, but HP to weight ratio. Of course if I could only pick one, I'd pick HP :)

Citroen Cactus.

Presumably intended to give a feeling of being out the wild desert, implying a free spirit...

To me, it immediately makes me think of nasty prickly things. As in "I'll be sitting in the Cactus". Not to mention the Kiwi vernacular using cactus as a euphemism for cack, as in "I'll be in the Cactus".

... and the difference between caucus and cactus is that cactus has the pr*cks on the outside.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
